Another example of your tax dollars at work. If you take the numbers in this article, the investigators only tested about 1/3 of the states and found $116 million in bogus payments. They estimated that 9% of the payments were improper, so using the $5 billion spent on the program in 2009, that means $450 million of your tax dollars were stolen.
In a perfect world, heads would role, but this is your government and the workers are probably unionized and protected from such mundane things as being fired.
