Tax Increases Not Needed! IF!

Good news from the Heritage Foundation. The OMB has just come out with numbers showing no need for increasing taxes. Projected increases caused by normal economic growth will cover normal projected costs. Here's the catch. Congress has to stop spending.

Stimulus Waste - All Politics

Monies for border security are being wasted on politicians pet projects. Priority projects are being ignored while influential Congressmen get their share of pork. Servants of the people, don't you believe it. Vote wisely in 2010.Secret Process Benefits Pet Projects

More About Global Warming

The graph below shows the effect of sea level changes over the last 20,000 years. If we are to believe the Global Warming Alarmists, because of global warming the sea level is rising at a dangerous rate. As you can see, almost the entire rise in sea level in the last 20,000 years occurred prior to the pyramids and way prior to the dreaded SUV. Don't let the Democrats/Progressives fool you, Cap & Trade is just another huge tax to help fund their pet projects and get elected, part of the liberal power grab and destruction of our liberties.

As a footnote: The graph is shown in meters, so the rise of about 120 meters from the ice age to the pyramids was about 400 feet.

Glenn Beck - Backlash Against Boycott

Glenn Beck has not been a personal favorite of mine; however, he is starting to grow on me with his coverage of the health care debacle and the demolition of our freedoms by the corrupt Obama administration. Then along comes an organization, Color of Change, with ties to Obama, promoting a boycott of advertisers for the Glenn Beck show on Fox cable, again, another attack on our freedom of speech. I'm happy to learn that there is now a backlash and the advertisers who knuckled under, are now feeling some heat, and the most liberal media are being hurt far worse than Fox. You can read a fine article about this here: Backlash Against Boycott Of Glenn Beck

US Funding Brazil Oil Jobs - Why Not US? (See Update 10/1/09)

The U.S. Ex-Im Bank is set to either guarantee or loan $2 billion to Brazil's state-owned oil company for development of their offshore Tupi oil field. Granted this could create jobs in the U.S. for the manufacturing of equipment used in the development of the Tupi fields and we would have a more friendly place to buy the oil we so desperately need.

The question Ms. Palin has, and rightly so, is why we cannot use the money to develop our own fields in Alaska or off the East and West coasts of the U.S., which reserves are every bit as large as the Tupi oil field. Or possibly use the money to support small businesses that could expand and create even more jobs.

There may be a number of good reasons to loan the $2 billion to Brazil. However, there is no good reason to continue to prohibit oil drilling and shale oil extraction in the U.S. We could buy oil from ourselves, keep the money here, and correct the foreign balance of payment deficit.

Why not? Obama is in bed with the radical environmentalists. Votes he can count on.

Concerns!

Liberals tend to prefer to call themselves progressives, I guess, because it makes them feel that their ideas are better and more up to date than those of the Conservative populous. In looking at this I have a few concerns:

Is it better to value the life of animals used to feed the hungry rather than the life of a human fetus?

Is it better to bankrupt a nation in order to pursue the need to save the planet from some unproven and shifting global warming/cooling /climate change philosophy?

Is it better to send billions of dollars overseas to countries that hate us, rather than develop our own energy sources, create jobs and keep the money here to spur our own economy?

Is it better to ration health care for the elderly rather than to do all things possible to keep them healthy and fit in their remaining years?

Is it better to denigrate spirited protesters that do not agree with your views or to work with them to alleviate their fears?

Is it better to make everyone equal by lowering the standard of living of all rather than create the opportunity for them to lift themselves up to a higher standard?

Is it better to keep our children mired in schools where the teachers suffer as much as the children, under union restrictions, rather than use proven techniques developed in charter schools that would allow millions to gain an education that would allow them to escape the poverty they live in?

Is it better to live in a country where the government controls the auto, financial, and health industries and confiscates any wealth you have accumulated to give to those the government itself has kept impoverished by its "slave owner" disincentive policies?

Is it better to spend more than your children and grandchildren will ever be able to repay on projects with little or no benefit rather than be fiscally responsible?

Is it better to be an atheist than to believe in an all loving God?

Yes, I have concerns, and, yes, I'm glad I am a Conservative.

The Framing Of The Modern Right

In this article by Paul A. Ibbetson, the view held by the OIA defining a "right-wing extremist", shows the disdain the administration has for those who believe in the Constitution. Using the depiction in this release, I believe that if you are not a "right-wing extremist", you are oblivious to what is wrong with American society today. This is quoted from the article:

The recently made public, April 7, 2009, Office of Intelligence and Analysis (OIA) assessment, titled
Rightwing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment, shows the administration's new framing of the modern right-wing extremist.

In this document (that would most certainly send a shiver up the leg of Joseph Goebbels), the right-wing extremist is depicted as an individual - angry over the decline of the economy and the loss of U.S. manufacturing and construction jobs. This right-wing extremist also harbors unwarranted anger over open borders issues, advancing firearm restrictions, and the expansion of social services to illegal aliens. Other dangerous perceptions, documented in the assessment, include how the right-wing extremist places 'state' authority over 'federal' authority; the right-wing extremist is, in general, antagonistic to the 'historic nature' of the Barack Obama presidency.

Americorps -Acorn? Obama Youth?

At a quarter of a million employees, Americorps is the 14th largest employer in the US, yet the taxpayers believe that this is a volunteer organization. Its purpose, as espoused by the Democrat sponsors, is a noble idea, but, as with all Government projects, politics cannot be denied. It all boils down to this, taxpayer money is being used to promote the liberal agenda. Acorn is a big beneficiary. We can only hope that the Americorps will not be referred to as the "Obama Youth" reminiscent of a similar group back in the early 1940's. Please read Americorps

We Need To Re-Balance Our Economy

Our economy is in deep trouble and the spending spree that our government is on is exacerbating the problem. Over spending by the Government and out-of-control credit purchases by consumers got us into this fix, and only getting our debt under control will correct it. As this article by Lew Rockwell states:

There are two ways to re-balance the American economy. The right way is to restore competitiveness through diminished government spending, deregulation, lower taxes, and higher savings. Higher savings will facilitate capital formation, and lower taxes and fewer regulations will allow that capital to improve the competitiveness of American labor. Improved productivity and capital investment will translate into higher real wages and pave the way to higher future living standards.

Alternatively, if we don’t re-balance our economy on these terms, our foreign creditors will do it for us – and they may have no compunction about imposing harsh measures. This tough medicine will be delivered in the form of declining value for the dollar. This will effectively raise consumer prices and interest rates for all Americans and dramatically lower the real value of our wages. In other words, balance will be restored from abroad by forcing our living standards to match our diminished industrial capacity. If we cannot compete based on lower taxes and increased capital investment, our only alternative will be to do so based on cheap labor.

Though president Obama claims that his policies will not raise taxes on average Americans, the unfortunate truth is that the effect of his policies will be to lower wages. The choice is simple: either we shrink government and enjoy higher wages, or grow government and accept lower wages. As for me, I prefer the former. However, if we do not change course soon, we will all be stuck with the latter.

Less Government Or Lower Wages?

Illegals - The High Cost

The Center for Immigration Studies published the following report in 2004 examining the pros and cons of amnesty or enforcement of our immigration laws. This is a good source of information for those of us that are undecided on the subject based on the sheer size of the problem and the improbability of expelling the millions that are already here.

The High Cost Of Cheap Labor

Tort Reform

As the president and Congress debate how to fix what’s broken in America’s healthcare system, it is critical that civil justice reform be included in the discussion.

By appropriately creating a safe harbor for physicians who incorporate clinical best practices into the care and treatment of their patients, we would effectively eliminate the need for expensive defensive medical costs. Physicians would instead be able to focus on how to make sick people healthy rather than ordering unnecessary tests, scans and medical procedures undertaken solely for the purpose of avoiding a malpractice claim. The use of clinical best practices will result in fewer cases going to court, less money being wasted, quicker resolution of legitimate malpractice claims, lower medical malpractice insurance rates and better health and healthcare services for patients.

Sky-High Gas Prices - Congress & President Demand It

Smart Energy Policy Should Be Obvious

It should be obvious, but in Washington it is often not: Discouraging domestic oil supplies with access restrictions, regulations, fees, and taxes will add to the future price at the pump, while streamlining these impediments to increased production will do the opposite. Congress and the President should be enacting measures that allow oil and gasoline to be as plentiful and affordable as possible to meet the nation's energy needs. Instead, they are doing the opposite.

This is the summation in an article by the Heritage Foundation entitled:
Five Things Congress and the President Are Doing to Bring Back Sky-High Gas Prices
by Ben Lieberman

The Democrats are so intent on bowing to their environmentalist base that they do not see or care about the irreparable harm they are doing to the US economy. Our enemies abroad must be dancing in the streets when they see what is happening, the internal destruction of our way of life.

Oath Of Office

We are living in a time when our Republic is under siege from the Left. Beginning with the New Deal, the Great Society, and now, the final assault on our freedoms by a Democrat majority in Congress and the Presidency. With the intrusions into the insurance and financial industries, to the outright nationalization of the auto companies, and now the attempt to take over the Health System of the US, the Constitution, our freedoms and way of life is in grave danger.

The question that I ask, is "who is here to protect us"?

The majority of the "free press" is in bed with the Administration. Supposedly they are the watchdogs and protectors of our freedoms. The Administration is throwing out signs through the "Fairness Doctrine" that could very well neuter the conservative and other fair minded press.

The President and Congress are not living up to their oath and, as such, are in violation of the Constitution.

The Democrats are also attempting to stack the elections by including illegals in the census and, most likely, by "fast tracking" citizenship for those same illegals, thus adding millions of Hispanics to the voting rolls.

The next election may be the most important in the history of our young Republic.

The oath of office of the President of the United States
is an oath or affirmation required by the United States Constitution before the President begins the execution of the office. The wording is specified in Article Two, Section One, Clause Eight: "I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."

Congressional Oath: I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God

5 freedoms you'd lose in health care reform

A Fortune magazine article posted on CNN Money.com pokes some holes in what the President and Democrat Congress are telling the people. It states: "If you read the fine print in the Congressional plans, you'll find that a lot of cherished aspects of the current system would disappear."

1. Freedom to choose what's in your plan
2. Freedom to be rewarded for healthy living, or pay your real costs
3. Freedom to choose high-deductible coverage
4. Freedom to keep your existing plan
5. Freedom to choose your doctors

Our Unconstitutional Census

California could get nine House seats it does not deserve because illegal aliens will be counted in 2010. So states an opinion article in the WSJ. The Obama administration intends to include illegals in the census thus skewing the results and giving unequal representation to legal citizens. Even if the illegals' votes don't count, they will be represented since their states will be apportioned more representatives to the House and more funds allocated from the Federal Government. This is just another example of the Dems buying the Hispanic vote. WSJ: Our Unconstitutional Census

Heritage Analysis Of Cap & Trade Bill

Why are the Dems so hell-bent on pushing the Cap & Tax bill? It all boils down to the special interests and buying votes from the "Greenies". Eighty eight (88%)percent of the taxes generated will go to special interest groups with no benefit to the taxpayers or the deficit.

The Heritage Foundation's article sets forth the following:

Another Burden on Future Generations

The income losses, the job losses, the tax increases, and the mounting debt all get worse over the coming decades. The Waxman-Markey bill forces a bad deal on a generation that does not have the option to turn it down.

The $9.4 trillion of lost income, the 2.5 million lost jobs, the $5.0 trillion of additional national debt, and the $5.7 trillion in new taxes will buy no more than a 0.2 degree (Celsius) moderation in world temperature increases by 2100 and no more than a 0.05 degree reduction by 2050.

Newt On Maintaining America's Safety

Whatever you might say about Newt Gingrich and his relative personal meltdown a number of years ago, he is a clear thinker on the powers and responsibilities of the Federal Government under the Constitution. In a speech before the Heritage Foundation, he spelled out a detailed, step-by-step, synopsis of what is needed to defend this country into the future. This is the primary purpose for our Federal Government, one which is being sorely neglected while the liberals pursue their illegal takeover of our auto and finance companies, and health care and energy systems.

The perils are great, our enemies are intelligent and committed to our demise, and as Newt points out, the playing field, because of the rapid advancement of technology, is growing exponentially.

The speech is well worth the time needed to read. Newt Gingrich

Nuclear Energy: Another Step Back From Energy Independence

Harry Reid and Obama have done it again. For the last 20 years the U.S. has spent $9 billion to develop Yucca Mountain into a state of the art, secure facility for storing and re-building fuel rods for our existing nuclear power plants. These plants provide approximately 20% of our electricity and is a safe, efficient and green source of energy that all European countries are exploiting to the maximum. Not our Dems. Eric Holder's Justice Department

Many of you remember the confrontation at a Philly polling place last November where New Black Panther's, one with a nightstick were intimidating voters. Eric Holder's justice department, after winning the case against the individuals by default, has suddenly dropped the case. This, together with the hiring of highly partisan lawyers, stonewalling of requests from Republican Congressmen does not bode well for the Rights of the American citizen. Of course our Democrat Congress will not allow any investigation or inquiry into any allegations of impropriety.

Jennifer Rubin's article in The Weekly Standard, although lengthy, sets forth a good case for a Congressional inquiry. Weekly Standard Article
