New Nanoscale Electrical Phenomenon Discovered - Lab on a Chip Possible!

Many of you don't remember the first computers with vacuum tubes that took up rooms of space and had significantly less capacity than many children's toys today. Now, the IPhone you hold in your hand is thousands of times more powerful than that computer of yesteryear. Small is good in technology terms.

This discovery is another step forward in the search for miniaturization. Not all discoveries are huge, many are the result of nanotechnology and cannot be seen with the naked eye.

I'm amazed. Are you?

Excerpt:
At the scale of the very small, physics can get peculiar. A University of Michigan biomedical engineering professor has discovered a new instance of such a nanoscale phenomenon---one that could lead to faster, less expensive portable diagnostic devices and push back frontiers in building micro-mechanical and "lab on a chip" devices.
