10 Cool Global Warming Policies
The National Center for Policy Analysis has released their take on the global warming discussion and has come up with what they call "10 Cool Policies".
10 Cool Global Warming Policies

Who Is Pulling The Strings For Obama
With Obama's penchants for travel, tired speeches, appearances on Letterman, Larry King and the Sunday talk shows, lobbying for Chicago and the Olympics, where/when is he working on the real problems this nation faces. Jobs and the economy should be number one on his list, but yet he is letting the surrogates on his staff and in the Congress lead on all the major issues. It is as if he were the charismatic one out front looking good and reading teleprompters well, while all the time true policy is being made behind the scenes.
Allegations are now being made that Bill Ayers has ghost written one or more of Obama's autobiographies. No one has been able to find out who supported him as he attended top universities and made little income for years after graduation. He has been accused of misrepresenting many things about his formative years and beliefs in order to promote his moderate campaign image, which has been shown to be a whopper of major proportions.
Was this candidate manufactured, by the Chicago corrupt and liberal machine, and bought and paid for by the likes of George Soros.
Is there another agenda, rather than helping America continue to be the greatest country on the face of the earth? You might think that bankrupting the U.S.A. may not fit into this agenda.
So far, President Obama has been shown to be just another pretty face continuing on the campaign trail well after that challenge has been won. Is he the one in charge
or is he the front man for Ayers, Wright, Soros and all those liberal powers in Chicago that want to control the lives of those, who through freedom and this democracy/republic, have made this country great.

72 Hours To Review Over 1,000 pages - Health Care Insanity
A bi-partisan group of Representatives has submitted a resolution requiring a 72 hour period to review any bill before the vote. A similar resolution re: health care legislation in the Senate was defeated by the Democrats. Don't count on the heavily Democratic House to approve this even though 72 hours is a joke. As someone says, why not two weeks an a more readable bill? Obviously, the current Congress does not want John Q Public to be informed until it is a done deal. Governmental Waste Of Time - Fish vs Hydroelectric Dams
The subject of dam removal is back on the table thanks to the Obama administration. Four hydroelectric dams on the Snake River in Washington State are subject to demolition if the extreme environmentalists get their way. Thirteen species of salmon are "endangered", according to environmentalists who state the dams must be removed even though the Corps had previously examined dam-breaching in a 2002 study titled “Improving Salmon Passage," which found that dam removal was unnecessary.
“The bottom line on it was that NOAA Fisheries said it wasn’t necessary to breach the dams to recover the (salmon) stock,” Corps of Engineers spokeswoman Nola Leyde said.
In addition, she said, the previous study had concluded that there were “certainties in the problems that it could cause for fish.’

Not All Republicans Are Conservative
Florida has a race for U.S. Senate in 2010 to replace Mel Martinez who resigned. This article by George Will spells out some interesting insight into the beliefs of two of the Republican candidates. You get what you vote for, and if you want someone with conservative values, don't just vote for the name you recognize, do research and vote your beliefs. A 'Principled Conservative' by George Will
Destruction Of The Dollar
I've cited some articles in the past belaying the fact that the huge deficits being run up by the Democrats is causing the countries of the world to take a second look at the reserve currency they use for world trade. The deficits create a lack of faith in the U.S. dollar and the fear of hyper inflation that will devalue the dollars value as it relates to other currencies. World Bank President Robert Zoellick said the United States should not take the dollar's status as the world's key reserve currency for granted because other options are emerging.
In excerpts released on Sunday from a speech that he is to deliver on Monday, Zoellick said global economic forces were shifting and it was time now to prepare for the fact that growth will come from multiple sources.
The Democrats with their Trillion Dollar deficits are doing irreversible damage to our place in the world economy. World Bank says don't take dollar's place for granted

Political Favoritism With Your Money
The question is, why is a new start-up car company, that will make luxury cars in Finland, getting $500 Million of U.S. taxpayer's hard earned money? The answer is, Al Gore is a major backer of the company. With money for U.S.business loans as scarce as it is, don't you think this cash could be used to create jobs here at home. Obviously, the Democrats in Washington could care less about the our unemployed. Gore-Backed Car Firm Gets Large U.S. Loan

Environmentalists - Going Back In Time
Progress to an environmentalist means going back to a time when humans had very little effect on there earthly surroundings. Progress to the rest of us is the advancements in our standard of living represented by electricity, the automobile, frozen food, oil, gas and nuclear energy, electronics, cellphones, and even soft toilet paper. The environmentalist's hero, Al Gore, does not worry about his "carbon footprint", but they want all of us to be measured and taxed if we don't measure up. It is time for us to wake up and remove our elected representatives that listen to these "kooks" and elect those that will make reasonable choices that don't restrict our God given freedoms. Obama Administration - Transparency Be Damned
It appears that, even before the ACORN fiasco, Labor Secretary Hilda Solis was in the process of dismantling useful union financial disclosures produced by former Labor Secretary Elaine Chao. The fact is that "teachers’ union bosses gave about $500,000 to the same Brooklyn ACORN office exposed on BigGovernment.com and both the National Education Association (NEA) and the American Federation of Teachers (AFT) awarded ACORN service contracts." Transparency is no longer an issue in the Obama White House.

Murkowski vs EPA
Obama has appointed ?many Czars as an end-around and now he has promised to use the EPA to get his way on carbon emissions if Congress does not pass the Cap and Trade legislation. We can only hope that, through the Murkowski amendment, Congress will wake up and slow down this takeover of power by the Executive branch.

Enforce Immigration Laws - E-Verify
On September 30th, the E-Verify law is set to expire. This law set up the internet based access to Social Security and Homeland Security files for employers to check on the work status of new hires. Although it has been in effect for a short time, it is estimated to have reduced the illegal workforce by 1 million. Congress needs to extend it to make a clear statement that our immigration laws should be enforced.

What A Waste: Government Green Projects
Tigerhawk states: This is "not at all surprising to those of us who are automatically skeptical of government projects, but still frustrating. The federal government has burdened American free enterprise with a fetish for process control, the idea being that stockholders, who are free to sell their shares, need protection from waste, fraud, and incompetence in public companies. Why do we not demand the same controls from the federal government, whose "stockholders" have no freedom to opt out?"

NEA Renamed "National Endowment For Propaganda"
Roger Kimball of "Roger's Rules" discusses Andrew Breitbart's expose' of the week on employees of the NEA working to promote Obama's liberal policies. This may be the next big thing to rock the Obama administration. You decide.
“This is just the beginning.” Who could doubt it? Reading through this transcript, I was struck by two things. One was the aroma of self-intoxication. These bureaucrats and artists and activists are utterly besotted by the contemplation of their own virtue. They know what’s good for the country, and what’s good for you, and they’re willing to devote themselves ceaselessly to making it happening.
The second thing that strikes one about this transcript is the aura of menace that floats just behind the talk of passion, pushing the president’s agenda, connecting with “labor unions, progressive groups,” etc., etc. As Yosi Sargant’s pep talk suggests, these people regard legal obstacles not as boundaries to be observed but as impediments to be overcome by “tactics,” a word that frequently appears in the transcript.
There is a German word for what we are witnessing at the NEA and elsewhere in the Obama adminsitration’s effort to push its agenda. It is Gleichschaltung. It means two things: first, bringing all aspects of life into conformity with a given political line. And second, as a pre-requisite for realizing that goal, the obliteration or at least marginalization of all opposition.

The Employee Free Choice Act
Again the Democrats have not learned by past events. Unions have the power to bankrupt our major industries as seen by the recent meltdown of both GM and Chrysler and the steel and textile industries in the past. As evidenced by the SEIU and other unions, intimidation and outright violence are common in their grab for power over both the employer and the members they are supposed to represent. Along come the Democrats with the Employee Free Choice Act that takes away the secret ballot for employees. The only result will be more union shops, more bankruptcies, more jobs shipped overseas and more unemployment. History has proven this fact that Liberals/Progressives tend to ignore. Are They Crazy Or Just Stupid? New Community Reinvestment Act
Barny Frank is at it again. Having blocked any legislation proposed to reign in Freddie and Fannie during the Bush years, he is now wanting to expand the legislation that many economists believe got us in the financial crisis that has just about shut down our economy. Hearings were held Wednesday morning on H.R.1479 "The Community Reinvestment Modernization Act of 2009". The bill's purpose is "to close the wealth gap in the United States" by increasing "home ownership and small business ownership for low- and moderate-income borrowers and persons of color." This is the same legislation that enabled/forced/encouraged banks into giving mortgages and other loans to individuals regardless of their ability to pay. Hence foreclosures, bailouts, stimulus etc. Will these Democrats ever learn? Read about it here.

Is It Good For America?
ERNEST S. CHRISTIAN AND GARY A. ROBBINS wrote this editorial for Investors Business Daily describing what is now and what it could be if we elected those who believe as Ike did, that everything they do in government passes the Ike test: Is It Good For America. An excerpt from the article:
Imagine how good for America it will be when the voters kick out the perpetrators of the mess in Washington — and replace them with a new president who tells the truth and a new Congress made up of citizen-legislators.
The new president and his appointees will come to Washington to serve, not to seek fame and fortune themselves or to make Washington more powerful.
The new members of Congress will work full time attending to the people's business and, having done so, will go back home to live life as their constituents do. Not for them the life of the catered and coddled.
These new public servants will seek to diminish the power of the government offices they hold — in the belief that a smaller, less- complicated and less-intervening government leads to a bigger, stronger, more prosperous and freer America.

Lessons Unlearned - New Financial Regulations
No intelligent individual can deny that Big Government had a pivotal role in the financial collapse last year. Changes in the Community Redevelopment Act during the Clinton administration and subsequent, ostrich like, head in the sand, support of Fannie and Freddie by Chris Dodd, Barney Frank and the Democrats in Congress brought this country's economy to its knees. Now, Obama wants to give the Fed new sweeping authority to over regulate our financial system. When are our representatives going to learn? Or is it all about power?Lessons Unlearned

Star Parker sees black conservatives coming back to the fold after voting for Obama out of racial pride. Another $40 Billion Tax
The Democrats in the Senate Finance Committee have found a new tax they like. This one is a $40 billion excise tax on medical devices and diagnostic equipment. All this will do is fund their pet projects and confiscate moneys that would be used for medical research. This is another way to dumb down our medical system and shows that the Democrats care not for the people they are supposed to represent. Medical Device And Diagnostics Value Added Tax
Health Costs - Basic Corrections Needed
Excerpts from John R. Graham's "Health Cost Crises":
Would-be health reformers in this country have painted an alternative narrative, of families trying to decide whether to go to the doctor or pay rent. It's a powerful image, but it's ignorant of the facts. And the government-heavy reforms these fear-mongers are pushing would only exacerbate the increasing costs in our health sector.
In fact, one of the reasons health-care spending has increased to one-fifth of personal consumption expenditures is that so much of it is not controlled by "we, the people." Instead, government gives our employers monopoly power over the pre-tax dollars used to buy health benefits, while government's appetite for tax dollars to fund its own expensive health programs is insatiable. As a result, the average household spends only 4.5 percent of its pre-tax income, or 5.7 percent of household expenditures, on health care of its own choice, with the government laundering the rest through third parties.
Further, costs for Medicare and Medicaid are spiraling out of control. Since 1970, Medicare's spending per patient has risen a third more than private spending on health goods and services. Medicaid spending per patient has increased 35 percent more than private spending. That's equivalent to $119 billion worth of inefficiencies in the last year alone. Why would we possibly extend that kind of fiscal mismanagement to the entire country, via a so-called "public option?"
Rising health costs are a natural consequence of our health system's reliance on third-party payment. We tend to consume more of a good or service when we pretend that someone else is footing the bill. By insulating patients from the true cost of their medical services, public and private insurance programs alike encourage over-consumption, waste, and fraud.
The answer to controlling health costs is not more government control, but less. Returning health care dollars and decisions to individual patients will encourage them to make more prudent decisions, spur competition in the health-care marketplace, and bring down overall costs.
Health reform is certainly needed. But politicians' fear-mongering about the costs of the current system isn't justified by the data. Creating a massive new federal bureaucracy that will fail to hold down health costs will have a deleterious effect on both the physical health of patients and the financial health of taxpayers.

CATO On Health Care Reform
Why is it the Government option is the only one set forth by the Democrat Administration when there are many ideas out there, including this one by the CATO Institute.
I would add Tort Reform to the seven ideas included. Most thinking people would try these solutions before passing trillion dollar bills that set up huge government bureaucracies, all the while knowing the history of inefficiencies and corruption in existing government programs and also knowing that when the government collects for any program, the money is not put into a fund for the specific use of that program, it is put in the General Fund and spent. That is why Social Security and Medicare are bankrupt. Again,it is a matter of trust. What Is The Free-Market Approach To Health Care Reform

Chaos for Glory: My Time With ACORN
by James O'Keefe
A famous community organizer once said, “The only way to upset the power structure in your communities is to goad them, confuse them, irritate them and, most of all, make them live by their own rules. If you make them live by their own rules, you destroy them.” Impossible demands can irritate modern leftists in ways nothing else can, whether it’s by banning Lucky Charms cereal because it’s racist against Irish people, calling Planned Parenthood saying you want to donate money for black abortions in the name of Margaret Sanger, or making Sen. Snowe sign an oversized bailout check for a billion dollars to Amtrak, in her own office.
The scenario we posed the ACORN Housing employees in Baltimore is due to the application of similar power tactics. We gave ACORN a taste of its own medicine. ACORN was alleged to be thug-like, criminal, and nefarious. This criminal behavior was evidenced by a video of Baltimore ACORN community organizers breaking the locks on foreclosed homes. Instead of railing against their radicalism, it is best to bring out this type of radicalism. Hannah Giles and I took advantage of ACORN’s regard for thug criminality by posing the most ridiculous criminal scenario we could think of and seeing if they would comply–which they did without hesitation.
Additionally, instead of focusing on foreclosure itself, which has become seemingly as politicized as abortion, we focused on crimes more difficult for the left to defend: trafficking of young helpless girls and tax evasion. The first group represents the severely disadvantaged, the second a threat to the distribution of wealth.
While manipulation or entrapment occurs when people are encouraged to do things they otherwise wouldn’t, the pre-set trap is their own. These tactics allow the viewer to see ACORN’s soul; their playing field and their morality, out in the open. Their system is based on conflict and change for its own sake. This system is based on totalitarian principles and class war techniques. These people understand pressure, power and self-interest. When the Baltimore employees saw we were shady dealers, their instincts clicked in, as we were prime recruits.
ACORN has ascended. They elect our politicians and receive billions in tax money. Their world is a revolutionary, socialistic, atheistic world, where all means are justifiable. And they create chaos, again, for it’s own sake. It is time for us to be studying and applying their tactics, many of which are ideologically neutral. It is time, as Hannah said as we walked out of the ACORN facility, for conservative activists to “create chaos for glory.”

It is time, as Hannah said as we walked out of the ACORN facility, for conservative activists to “create chaos for glory.”

If Everyone Read The Bill
Our Congress persons (to be politically correct) do not read the bills they pass. They leave this to their staff, mostly interns. How comfortable with this are you? This article asks if Congress should fear a reading public. It also asks some other interesting questions. Do Health Care Reformers Fear A Reading Public?

Does Our Government Understand Capitalism?
Is the U.S. Government following an economic policy that led to the "Great Depression"? Do our politicians really understand what makes capitalism work? Nobel prize-winning economist James Buchanan says "yes" and "no" to these questions.

Our Major Lender: China Is Alarmed
The Feds policy of easing credit by printing money to buy bonds, in effect, loaning to ourselves, may create a major inflationary trend in years to come. China is already moving away from holding US dollars as reserves, and is instead, buying gold, Euros, etc.
The last line by Mr. Cheng in this article is interesting:
"He who goes borrowing, goes sorrowing," Mr. Cheng said.
It was a quote from US founding father Benjamin Franklin.

The Revolt Against The Elite
In Gary Horne's article "The Revolt Against The Elite" he differentiates the views of the intellectuals "elite" from the people. This is an excerpt from the article.
The Elites in Power are much of the Congress and many with powerful positions in the administration or as government bureaucrats. There they proceed to coerce the rest of us since they know better than us how to run our lives. The Elites in Towers (otherwise known as intellectuals) are in university humanities and "social science" departments or think tanks where they make the irrational appear rational, turn black into white, and take theories which have never worked and spin them into golden dreams. They hold a mysterious "wisdom" known only to themselves which invariably is contrary to common sense. They provide the ideas for the Elites in Power. Elites in Flowers curse mankind for not bowing before nature. Elites in Choirs sing from their media posts the praises of the other elites and their ideas.
This is not to impugn the integrity of members of Congress who respect the views of their constituents and the Constitution, professors who think rather than "intellectualize," true outdoors men, or responsible journalists. These do not currently wield any power and the revolt is not against them.
Most elites have spent their lives in universities or politics, or otherwise isolated from the rest of us, and almost never have run a business, or even earned a living in the manner most of us do. (Community organizing does not qualify.)
The time that we should be thinking of this is during the primaries when we can cull out the elite and have a choice to vote for someone who will respect their constituents views.

Biden : Stimulus Working Well. Really?
Joe Biden, our stimulus watchdog, thinks the stimulus is working well. The following graph shows a different picture. Unemployment is soaring far above what the Obama White House predicted even if no stimulus was enacted. Maybe giving the money back to the consumer wasn't such a bad idea since it has worked in the past.

Saudi Prince: The Truth About Oil
The truth is, the Saudi's have us "over the barrel" of oil. If we do not drill right now, these are the people who will have total control of our economy. Alternative sources of energy will not do it alone. Exploiting our own natural resources, while we develop new technologies, will create jobs here at home, save hundreds of billions of dollars for the USA and free us from the grips of the Mideast oil merchants. I say to Obama, use some common sense, dump the extreme "greenies", and "drill, baby, drill". Saudi Prince Blasts U.S.: You Can't Live Without Our Oil
Obama Supports Communist Regimes?
While supporting Cuba, Obama has shunned Honduras who recently ousted a President bent on being in office "for life". Maybe the current administration has similar long term ambitions. Hmmmm? Communist Czars, Fairness Doctrine, Interrogations under White House control, speeches to grade schoolers, hiring 250,000 youths for Americorps, Union thugs, Acorn organizers, Hmmmm? More Power For The IRS
HR3200 requires that every individual, all 300 million of us, have acceptable health insurance. In their wisdom, Congress has dumped the enforcement of this provision on the IRS, that caring institution you have always wanted to give more power to.
One way proposed to fund the insurance for those unable to afford it, is to issue tax credits. Of course there has to be another department to approve these credits, creating another Federal bureaucracy, The Health Choices Administration. They would obviously need access to your tax information to make such a determination.
Liberty and privacy is no longer, if it ever has been, a priority for those in government. Health Care Reform Means More Power For The IRS

Swine Flu: A Crisis Not To Be Wasted
It is now the States, could the Feds be far behind? I don't know what country these legislators grew up in, but their ideals are so far removed from those of our founding fathers that we, the people, are in grave danger of losing our freedoms. The words of Obama's Chief of Staff, Rahm Emanuel, to never waste a good crisis fits right in to this scenario.Police State USA: Swine Flu Power

He Is Now After Our Children
Obama's plan for September 8th; is it for the benefit of the children (under 12) or for his own benefit. It all sounds worthy, but the preparation of the children, by reading books about Obama, sounds eerily like something back in the1940's. With everything else he is doing, hiring avowed communist czars, 250,000 Americorps paid and "trained" "volunteers", socialized medicine and the Democrat Congress in, excuse me, lockstep, I am more than a little uneasy about this Address to Students Across America. They are too young to be indoctrinated in this way. What do you think?
PreK-6 Menu of Classroom Activities:
President Obama’s Address to Students
Across America
Produced by Teaching Ambassador Fellows, U.S. Department of Education September 8, 2009
Before the Speech:
Teachers can build background knowledge about the President of the United States and his speech by reading books about presidents and Barack Obama and motivate students by asking the following questions: Who is the President of the United States? What do you think it takes to be President? To whom do you think the President is going to be speaking? Why do you think he wants to speak to you? What do you think he will say to you?
Teachers can ask students to imagine being the President delivering a speech to all of the students in the United States. What would you tell students? What can students do to help in our schools? Teachers can chart ideas about what they would say.
Why is it important that we listen to the President and other elected officials, like the mayor, senators, members of congress, or the governor? Why is what they say important?
During the Speech:
As the President speaks, teachers can ask students to write down key ideas or phrases that are important or personally meaningful. Students could use a note-taking graphic organizer such as a Cluster Web, or students could record their thoughts on sticky notes. Younger children can draw pictures and write as appropriate. As students listen to the speech, they could think about the following: What is the President trying to tell me? What is the President asking me to do? What new ideas and actions is the President challenging me to think about?
Students can record important parts of the speech where the President is asking them to do something. Students might think about: What specific job is he asking me to do? Is he asking anything of anyone else? Teachers? Principals? Parents? The American people?
Students can record any questions they have while he is speaking and then discuss them after the speech. Younger children may need to dictate their questions.
After the Speech:
Teachers could ask students to share the ideas they recorded, exchange sticky notes or stick notes on a butcher paper poster in the classroom to discuss main ideas from the speech, i.e. citizenship, personal responsibility, civic duty.
Students could discuss their responses to the following questions: What do you think the President wants us to do? Does the speech make you want to do anything? Are we able to do what President Obama is asking of us? What would you like to tell the President?
Teachers could encourage students to participate in the Department of Education’s “I Am What I Learn” video contest.
On September 8th the Department will invite K-12 students to submit a video no longer than 2 min, explaining why education is important and how their education will help them achieve their dreams. Teachers are welcome to incorporate the same or a similar video project into an assignment. More details will be released via www.ed.gov.
Extension of the Speech:
Teachers can extend learning by having students create posters of their goals. Posters could be formatted in quadrants or puzzle pieces or trails marked with the labels: personal, academic, community, country. Each area could be labeled with three steps for achieving goals in those areas. It might make sense to focus on personal and academic so community and country goals come more readily.
Write letters to themselves about what they can do to help the president. These would be collected and redistributed at an appropriate later date by the teacher to make students accountable to their goals.
Write goals on colored index cards or precut designs to post around the classroom.
Interview and share about their goals with one another to create a supportive community.
Participate in School wide incentive programs or contests for students who achieve their goals.
Write about their goals in a variety of genres, i.e. poems, songs, personal essays.
Create artistic projects based on the themes of their goals.
Graph student progress toward goals.
