Tort Reform

I was away for awhile, and from what I read, Obama mentioned tort reform one day and withdrew any suggestion of it the next day. It amazes me, that the one, most readily available method to reduce health care costs, can be set aside so easily. But then again, since the US Congress is made up of a majority of lawyers, it would be almost impossible for them to vote for what is right for the American people.

Because of the possibility of being sued, doctors are forced to perform needless tests to protect themselves, drug companies are forced to increase prices to pay for enormous settlements won by lawyers. And who benefits, yes, of course, the lawyers get the majority of spoils. Even if the suits are lost, the lawyers get paid. Looks like a win win for Congress members friends.

And the medical arena is not the only area abused by the legal system.
