Obamacare – did Chief Justice Roberts do us a favor?

Posted this at Examiner.com today.

Excerpt: The Supreme Court, being the final Constitutional protection that an American citizen has, has the obligation to rule on the Constitutionality based on the facts, without having “a general reticence to invalidate”. That is their job. Chief Justice Roberts and the Liberal gang of four did not do their job and a dangerous precedent has been established. To paraphrase one of the Justices own words, can the government now force me to eat broccoli by threatening to tax (penalize) me?

Although decisions are rarely, if ever, reversed, subsequent cases, as in the 1964 case of Brown v. Board of Education, can change the Court’s thinking and return us to solid Constitutional ground.

Then, why did Roberts do us a favor?

The Liberal war on freedom

Students rest underneath a portrait of U.S. Supreme Court Associate Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr., inside the court building June 27, 2012 in Washington, DC. The high court could hand down a landmark ruling on the Affordable Care Act as early as Thur Photo credit: Chip Somodevilla/Getty Images
Posted this article on Examiner.com.

Excerpt: What brought me to this trip down memory lane, was the impending Supreme Court decision due out tomorrow on Obamacare and two other articles in the news today. Of course Obamacare is the granddaddy of all power grabs by the Federal government, but these other two are just another symptom of how the Liberal left is wearing us down and destroying our freedoms.

The first article relates to DOJ regulations just coming out regarding the 1990 Americans with Disabilities Act. It seems now, 22 years after the law was enacted, the DOJ believes that the slope must be limited on miniature golf holes and the walkways must be wide enough to accommodate the handicapped. In addition, because the Islam religion considers dogs to be unclean, businesses will be required to admit the blind with their mini horses as guide animals. The bull in the china shop comes to mind and maybe the horse at the table next to me in my favorite restaurant.

The next item is just a recommendation by a government advisory board that is proposing that all obese adults be given intensive counseling to help them get rid of some of their excess fat. At 5’ 9” and 200 lbs, I qualify with a BMI of over 30. No problem, Medicare will pay for the counseling, and I am sure that I will learn a lot more from a government therapist than I have from Dr. Oz, the South Beach and Atkins diet books and even the valuable info garnered from Michelle, our First Lady.

Power versus freedom, that is what elections are all about.

Obama's Event Registry - Tacky

Posted this comment on Barackobama.com.  Don't know if I will be there tomorrow.

Thought it was a joke when I saw it on another site, but here it is. Unbelievable, yet soooo believable coming from "The One"

VIRGINIA CHURCH SERVICE - STIMULUS SERMON

One of my Facebook friends posted this today.

I would love to give the Pastor of this predominantly black church in Virginia three cheers. This guy is obviously a leader. Perhaps we should each decide who our real leader is... It is amazing to see that very little has changed in 4,000 years.

Good morning, brothers and sisters; it's always a delight to see the pews crowded on Sunday morning, and so eager to get into God's Word. Turn with me in your Bibles, if you will, to the 47th chapter of Genesis. We'll begin our reading at verse 13, and go through verse 27.

Brother Ray, would you stand and read that great passage for us? ... (reading) .... Thank you for that fine reading, Brother Ray. So we see that economic hard times fell upon Egypt , and the people turned to the government of Pharaoh to deal with this for them. And Pharaoh nationalized the grain harvest, and placed the grain in great storehouses that he had built. So the people brought their money to Pharaoh, like a great tax increase, and gave it all to him willingly in return for grain. And this went on until their money ran out, and they were hungry again.

So when they went to Pharaoh after that, they brought their livestock - their cattle, their horses, their sheep, and their donkey - to barter for grain, and verse 17 says that only took them through the end of that year. But the famine wasn't over, was it? So the next year, the people came before Pharaoh and admitted they had nothing left, except their land and their own lives. "There is nothing left in the sight of my lord but our bodies and our land. Why should we die before your eyes, both we and our land? Buy us and our land for food, and we with our land will be servants to Pharaoh." So they surrendered their homes, their land, and their real estate to Pharaoh's government, and then sold themselves into slavery to him, in return for grain.

What can we learn from this, brothers and sisters?

That turning to the government instead of to God to be our provider in hard times only leads to slavery? Yes... That the only reason government wants to be our provider is to also become our master?

Yes. But look how that passage ends, brothers and sisters! Thus Israel settled in the land of Egypt , in the land of Goshen . And they gained possessions in it, and were fruitful and multiplied greatly." God provided for His people, just as He always has! They didn't end up giving all their possessions to government, no, it says they gained possessions! But I also tell you a great truth today, and an ominous one.

We see the same thing happening today - the government today wants to "share the wealth" once again, to take it from us and redistribute it back to us. It wants to take control of healthcare, just as it has taken control of education, and ration it back to us, and when government rations it, then government decides who gets it, and how much, and what kind. And if we go along with it, and do it willingly, then we will wind up no differently than the people of Egypt did four thousand years ago - as slaves to the government, and as slaves to our leaders.

What Mr. Obama's government is doing now is no different from what Pharaoh's government did then, and it will end the same. And a lot of people like to call Mr. Obama a "Messiah," don't they? Is he a Messiah? A savior? Didn't the Egyptians say, after Pharaoh made them his slaves, "You have saved our lives; may it please my lord, we will be servants to Pharaoh"? Well, I tell you this - I know the Messiah; the Messiah is a friend of mine; and Mr. OBAMA IS NO MESSIAH! No, brothers and sisters, if Mr. Obama is a character from the Bible, then he is Pharaoh. Bow with me in prayer, if you will..

Lord, You alone are worthy to be served, and we rely on You, and You alone. We confess that the government is not our deliverer, and never rightly will be. We read in the eighth chapter of 1 Samuel, when Samuel warned the people of what a ruler would do, where it says "And in that day you will cry out because of your king, whom you have chosen for yourselves, but the LORD will not answer you in that day..."

And Lord, we acknowledge that day has come. We cry out to you because of the ruler that we have chosen for ourselves as a nation. Lord, we pray for this nation. We pray for revival, and we pray for deliverance from those who would be our masters. Give us hearts to seek You and hands to serve You, and protect Your people from the atrocities of Pharaoh's government. In God We Trust...
You may consider sharing this with others. If you don't agree ... just delete. Have a nice day…

Obama's Lawless Presidency - Do We Have Another Hugo Chavez?

This article gives a good discussion on where Obama is going wrong and acting like Hugo Chavez.

Excerpt: The Obama Record: The chief executive who swore to faithfully execute the nation's laws picks those he'll ignore and makes up others through regulation and executive order. He sees no need for a Congress or Constitution.

Maybe it's because Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts stumbled a bit in leading President Obama through the oath of office that the president doesn't feel bound by it.

But through the awkwardness these words were heard: "I, Barack Hussein Obama, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."

It would not take Obama long to make clear he meant his interpretation of the Constitution, not the Supreme Court's, a principle established in Marbury v. Madison, the 1802 case that formed the basis for the exercise of judicial review in the U.S. under Article III of the Constitution.

Read full article for examples of Obama's forays into Unconstitutionality.

Maybe all this works in Venezuela, but it won't wash here. We still have free elections, and there's one in November when we can fundamentally restore respect for the law and the Constitution.

Executive Privilege 101

Found this discussion, relating to the Kagan nomination, that summarizes what Executive Privilege is all about. This is an excerpt, but the article is more detailed.

Excerpt: The term “executive privilege” is often used as a blanket term to refer to any presidential assertion that an executive branch document should not be disclosed, but the courts have recognized both a stronger and a weaker form of executive privilege.

The stronger “presidential communications privilege”

The stronger form is known as the “presidential communications privilege.” This relatively robust privilege applies to communications made directly to the president so long as those communications occur “in performance of [a president’s] responsibilities” and “in the process of shaping policies and making decisions.” The presidential communications privilege may also apply to communications “authored or solicited and received by those members of an immediate White House adviser’s staff who have broad and significant responsibility for investigating and formulating the advice to be given the President on the particular matter to which the communications relate.”

Communications authored by agency officials—executive branch officials outside the White House—are not subject to the presidential communications privilege unless the documents were specifically solicited and received by the president or an appropriate White House advisor to the president.

The weaker “deliberative process privilege”

The weaker form of executive privilege is known as the “deliberative process privilege,” which applies to discussions among executive branch officials that are part of the government’s decision-making process. This privilege can apply to executive branch officials outside of the president’s inner circle, but it is both more limited in scope and easier to overcome.

Study examining gay parents sparks debate

Would recommend you read the full article and draw your own conclusions. I am probably predisposed to thinking that, with much of the gay stigma still out there, that that alone would effect children in some ways. My guess is that if gay households were compared with "wards of the state" upbringing, the gay household would win handily. However, this study seems to show some adverse effect compared to that of heterosexual homes.

Excerpt: Young adults from broken homes in which a parent had had a same-sex relationship reported modestly more psychological and social problems in their current lives than peers from other families that had experienced divorce and other disruptions, a new study has found, stirring bitter debate among partisans on gay marriage.

The study counted parents as gay or lesbian by asking participants whether their parents had ever had a same-sex relationship; the parents may not have identified themselves as gay or lesbian. Gay-rights groups attacked the study, financed by conservative foundations, as biased and poorly done even before its publication on Sunday in the journal Social Science Research.

But outside experts, by and large, said the research was rigorous, providing some of the best data yet comparing outcomes for adult children with a gay parent with those with heterosexual parents. But they also said the findings were not particularly relevant to the current debate over gay marriage or gay parenting.

Why Japanese did not invade the U.S.A.

President Obama is "out of touch" with America

Obama does not have much concern for the plight of the average American as you can see by his comment about the private sector doing "just fine". Where his concern lies is with the public employee unions, his bread and butter constituency. The shrinking roles in these unions bring fear in the hearts of the union bosses and the Obama campaign fundraisers. How out of touch with the American people can he get?

Excerpt: Never in the course of economic stagnation has a less-feeling, more callous, completely out-of-touch sentence been uttered. "The private sector is doing fine."

In all of the debates that can be had over policy direction, administration priorities, whether or not the free market should be allowed to fail (and hence reinvent itself), or not (and hence keep the drag of economic growth going) one thing was known by both sides in the partisan ranks--the private sector is not fine.

America currently has the lowest participation in the employment pool of workers (by percentage) in over thirty years. Long after the 99 weeks of unemployment checks stopped coming, people have given up. The job market has dried up. Innovation has died a painful assassination, the bullet being fired into the head, by the administration's own war on the small business man or woman.

It is painful. It is humiliating. It is gut wrenching. In short it is anything but "fine."

What was almost as equally disturbing the in the soundbite taken from President Obama's answer was the portion following the the "fine" comment.

He proceeded: "Where we’re seeing weaknesses in our economy have to do with state and local government. Often times cuts initiated by, you know, Governors or mayors who are not getting the kind of help that they have in the past from the federal government and who don’t have the same kind of flexibility as the federal government in dealing with fewer revenues coming in."

Here we see revealed an equally inane view of economic need, growth, development and solution.

In reality governments have tremendous power to levy the kind of help needed. State and local governments have fewer solutions than the federal government, but only by one choice. State, Local, and Federal governments all have the ability to borrow money or to raise taxes.

But state and local governments are under the gun of an electorate who is very close to them, doesn't want to see fiscal mismanagement, and has no use for even more of their hard earned money being lost in wasteful fashion. The federal government being further removed from the people, gets away with high-end Las Vegas conferences, endless rounds of golf, or sending the first dame and kids off on Air Force 1 vacations at the drop of the hat--without as much immediate consequence.

The federal government also has the one ability that states and municipalities do not--the control the printing presses to the currency. And in this administration's view--printing up as much as we need--doesn't seem to be terribly objectionable.

Wisconsin and California elections - President Obama should be concerned

Excerpt: June 5th, 2012, may be the day that put fear in the hearts of President Obama and his re-election team. On that day, the silent majority spoke.

For the last year or so, Wisconsin has been at the forefront of the battle between Big Labor, reeling from Governor Walker’s austerity measures, and Walker’s conservative base. From the day he took office, he set about balancing the state’s budget and passing laws to create jobs. Public employee unions lost their power to intimidate politicians and demand salaries and benefits far above those in the private sector. The unions also lost the power to force individuals to join the union, and, as a result, the public employees unions lost a significant portion of their membership.

So incensed were the unions about Walker’s clampdown, that they initiated a recall drive to force him out of office. Only two other times in the history of our country has a sitting Governor been recalled, and their recalls were based on official misconduct. They did not survive. Walker and his Lt. Governor not only survived the recall, but did so by a seven percent margin in a “Blue” state.

Obummer! by Christina Houston

Barack Obama’s High Tech Snuff Films…

A couple of scary things in this interview. One is Obama's obsession with drones, and the other is that big labor is not only controlling him, but calling the shots. He does their bidding, even up to the point of promoting insurrection so that he can take total control over the citizens. This may be far fetched, but all the signs are there.

Excerpt:  UM: I need to your to expand on the Drone thing – Obama’s love of using the drones. You say you “got the goods” – your words. What do you mean?

WHI: It’s what has been brewin’ for well over a year now…it’s causing all kinds of hell between the administration…the military…infighting and concern among the staff…even Jarrett don’t have a handle on all of it. Even she is not entirely comfortable with how the president has sunk his teeth into the drones…the kill list. She’s not bothered by their use specifically…she’s more…I would guess she’s more worried over the political implications of Obama’s obsession…that eventually enough people will stand together and say ENOUGH. She can’t afford to have that happen too soon…the re-election makes them all vulnerable…the plans…the obligations to others…America can still stop them in 2012 and she understands that. So having Obama so oddly focused…not just focused…he gets excited…visually…the guy gets off on it and he ain’t even hiding that fact anymore. And some are repulsed by it. They’ve done video reviews you know…of the missions. The drones. The kills.

UM: The president you mean? He watches videos of the drone attacks?

WHI: Yeah – like it was…like it was porn. I can’t emphasize…I don’t think I’m painting a clear enough picture here for you of how this thing has people really freaking out inside the administration. It’s good on one hand because it’s got more of them willing to talk…but…the fact it’s gotten this bad…these drones…an American president who has the video sent up to his personal study so he can watch them over and over again…like I said – sh-t ain’t right. And more and more people are figuring that out – and that is what has Jarrett concerned. But even she…Obama won’t listen to her on this one. Those drones are the one thing he really feels he has control over…all the rest…he’s been told what to say and where to go…when to wake…when to sleep…but the drones. The drones are all his – and he ain’t given those up. For nobody.

USW International President Leo Gerard at Capitol
WHI: You were told about Gerard. He’s a kingmaker in all of this. You wanna know somebody who can make Valerie Jarrett sh-t all over herself? Leo Gerard would be one of those people. You get beyond him and you’re dealing with a level neither one of us can understand – or would want to. That’s for the Old Man to throw punches – we ain’t never gonna be in that world. Leo Gerard – The Man Who Controls The Obama Agenda

UM: Ok – Gerard. Yes – we talked about him. Jarrett answers to him?

WHI: He would be one – absolutely. He’s Big Labor on an international level. He’s got use of American military, American influence, American intelligence…those things are at his disposal if need be. Globalist…the desire to place the world under the banner of Big Labor. The expansion intoBrazil…Africa…follow the crumbs man. It’s all there. But try and get the kind of information that can burn them – the stuff that you could send to the Hill…as long as Eric Holder is holding the line…very tough. And very dangerous. That’s why I’m telling you to stay out ofChicago. That’s why I’m staying out of there.
