Immigration Enforcement: A Populist Program to Create Jobs
The first thing we can do as a country to bring back jobs is crack down on illegal immigration, enact a moratorium on immigration, and reject amnesty. These simple steps will free up millions of jobs for Americans. And unlike his stimulus money, this will not put us further in debt. In fact, it will save taxpayers billions of dollars to pay for schools, hospitals, social services, welfare, and prisons for immigrants.
Standing up to uncontrolled immigration provides Republicans a golden opportunity to establish itself as the true populist party who stands up for the American worker against special interests groups.

Trillions for Global Warming Hoax, Nothing for NASA
In a rational world, we wouldn’t need a NASA. The private industry would do it all, but government has just about snuffed out every possibility of that.
And now Obama is killing space exploration. Billions for graft and corruption and his unions and even more for the junk science of global warming, but nothing for the future discovery and the progress of man. It’s awful. The collapse of science is all but complete.
Trillions for global hoaxing, the middle finger for science. And for Americans, Third World conditions. Read article here.

Minnesota wind turbines won’t work in cold weather
Excerpt: Wind power makes a lot of sense as a secondary or tertiary power source, a way to harness extra power without necessarily relying on it as a consistent source. I have no problem with its deployment under that kind of strategy, but as this shows, it’s simply not reliable enough as a primary energy resource replacing coal- or natural gas-generated electricity.

Repeal the 17th Amendment - A Commentary By Tony Blankley
But just as the Tea Party movement in so many ways seems to represent the 2.0 version of our movement, so I again thought about the 10th amendment anew. After about 10 seconds' thought, it struck me that the best way to revive the 10th Amendment is to repeal the 17th Amendment -- which changes the first paragraph of Article I, Section 3 of the Constitution to provide that each state's senators are to be "elected by the people thereof" rather than being "chosen by the Legislature thereof." (As I Googled the topic, I found out that Ron Paul and others have been talking about this for years. It may be the only subject that could be proposed and ratified at a constitutional convention with three-fourths of the state legislatures.) Repeal the 17th Amendment

I Told You So – Yes I Did
Words from a Canadian talk show host. Excerpt: When Obama won the Presidency with the help of the LEFTIST Media, Hollywood and Entertainment Liberals, Ethnic Socialists (ACORN), Stupid Non-Business Professionals and Bush Haters, I wrote:
It won’t take 6 months until the people figure this guy out and realize how horrible a mistake they’ve made. And when they come to that realization, the damage to the United States of America will be so great, that it will take a generation or more to repair - IF EVER.
I don’t believe the Democrats have nearly as much love for their country as they do for their own political fortunes. And with Obama, their fortunes are rapidly becoming toast.
The Democrats can keep on blaming Bush for EVERYTHING. But, that game’s already begun to wear real thin.
Their mantra was “WE DON’T WANT 4 MORE YEARS”, which the STUPID people bought, since McCain was nothing at all like George W Bush.
The new mantra will soon become: WE DON’T WANT 6 MORE MONTHS.

More Proof: Mediterranean Diet Keeps Hearts Young
In an analysis of more than 40,000 Spanish adults followed for an average of 10 years, researchers found that sticking to a Mediterranean diet significantly reduced the risk of a first heart attack or other heart disease-related event.
Specific components of a Mediterranean diet differ from region to region but, generally, the key features include high consumption of olive oil, plant-based foods such as fruits, vegetables, legumes, whole-grain cereals, nuts, and seeds. Fish is favored over other meat sources with relatively low consumption of red meat. Alcohol, especially red wine, and dairy products are used in moderation. Newt's New Contract With America
Excerpt: II) An Alternative Party — Not an Opposition Party
Part of the power of a contract strategy is that it forces Republicans to quit being an opposition party and enables them to become an alternative party. This was the key part of our calculus in developing the original contract.
We knew that the Ross Perot voters (the tea party independents of their day) would not turn out for a negative campaign. They were angry at all politicians, and they would have stayed home if Republicans had merely been the anti-Clinton party. This is, in fact, what happened in 1998 when we could not get the leadership in the House and the Senate to develop a reform agenda. Our vote fell off because we were seen as negative and obstructionist.
To attract the Perot voter, we wanted to be relentlessly positive.
With then-Republican National Committee Chairman Haley Barbour’s financial support, we bought a two-page ad in TV Guide (then the most widely read publication in America).
The contract had no pictures, did not mention Clinton or the Democrats, and was almost boring in its typeface. It was designed to look and feel different. The original is now in the Smithsonian.
Because it was so positive, we reassured the Perot voters that we were different from traditional politicians. They concluded we were worth turning out and voting for.

Obama Budget to Criple Moon Mission
The Augustine Commission in its report to the president stated that NASA could not develop the Ares I rocket, which would be used to carry the crew into orbit. To adequately do so would require the funding that NASA had been promised – but later denied. Alongside the Ares I there would also be developed the heavy-lift capable Ares V – which would be used to hoist key flight hardware, lunar landers and the necessary upper-stage. With this shortfall in funding the fate of both vehicles is placed into doubt. Read it here.

Nero Once Fiddled, Now Obama is Manning the Printing Presses
The New Romans
President Obama and the Federal Reserve have a much easier time of opting for inflation than Nero did. Our leaders don’t have to re-mint debased coins or even overwork printing presses. Instead they can create money out of thin air with a keystroke.
Last summer the Wall Street Journal wrote that the U.S. government has been, “flooding the market with dollars. By buying U.S. Treasuries and mortgages to increase the monetary base by $1 trillion, Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke didn’t put money directly into the stock market but he didn’t have to. With nowhere else to go, except maybe commodities, inflows into the stock market have been on a tear… The dollars he cranked out didn’t go into the hard economy, but instead into tradable assets. In other words, Ben Bernanke has been the market.”
The problem is that the Obama/Bernanke bull can’t last. The creation of money is a zero sum game and alone it does not revive a fundamentally weak economy. And unless the economy itself improves—beginning with greater confidence in the dollar—the stock market is bound for a serious fall.

Will America's Military be Placed on the Chop Block?
Obama's priorities are in the wrong place. The one legitimate Constitutional obligation of the Federal Government is the security of the citizenry.
Excerpt: President Obama’s ten-year budget plan will reduce the defense budget significantly at a time when the military must recover from the wear and tear of wartime. As entitlements, domestic programs, and interest payments balloon, policymakers in Washington are likely to continue turning to the defense budget as a billpayer and bailout. Read full article here.

Al-Qaeda still aims to use weapons of mass destruction against U.S
Excerpt: When al-Qaeda's No. 2 leader, Ayman al-Zawahiri, called off a planned chemical attack on New York's subway system in 2003, he offered a chilling explanation: The plot to unleash poison gas on New Yorkers was being dropped for "something better," Zawahiri said in a message intercepted by U.S. eavesdroppers.
The meaning of Zawahiri's cryptic threat remains unclear more than six years later, but a new report warns that al-Qaeda has not abandoned its goal of attacking the United States with a chemical, biological or even nuclear weapon. Read it here.

Obama Retirement Trap
The largest source of liquid private wealth remaining in the United States [is] the $15 trillion in private retirement funds and the ultimate ownership, control and future of these funds have already been compromised and exchanged for the favorable tax treatment of private retirement plans. Congress writes the laws, so they can tax, penalize, hold your funds hostage and although they'd never use the word, "confiscate" your assets at their discretion. Read the full article here.

Terror alert: Two men on 'no-fly' list stopped at Heathrow
Why are we not hearing this from our MSM?
Security sources say an Egyptian was stopped last Saturday as he tried to board an American Airlines flight to Miami. A man from Saudi Arabia was banned from boarding a United Airlines flight to Chicago the next day and sent back to Saudi.
Anti-terror officials said the past week had seen an "unusually high" number of people on their no-fly list trying to board US-bound planes.

White House Needs New Look At Energy
Obama's reliance on wind and solar is naive at best since the technology involved will support a very small percentage of our energy needs for decades. This article shows the danger of the Obama policies putting our economic future at risk.
Excerpt - The major Chinese oil companies have the full support of the Chinese government and, very importantly, they are admired and praised by the vast majority of Chinese people.
In discussions with Chinese intellectuals, government officials and company executives, the Chinese are often incredulous, all asking essentially the same question: Why is America letting us have a free and uncontested ride in all these energy ventures?
In contrast, American "Big Oil," (ExxonMobil, ConocoPhillips and Chevron — the only companies really able to play along and compete with the Chinese) not only are not supported or encouraged by the U.S. government, they've been routinely vilified by politicians. To the sizeable portion of the American public that's unaware of the role energy plays in the modern world, they are the devil incarnate.
What the world is witnessing is the largest peaceful transfer of power in history. Energy means power, and while the U.S. is consumed by environmental ideologies and climate rhetoric, it is committing economic hara-kiri in the process. China, riding on energy acquisitions with little competition, will propel itself into the economic stratosphere.
The U.S. should be concerned, but doing something about it will require an unlikely sea of cultural change in the Obama administration.

A U.S. ClimateGate?
Smith argues that the decrease in stations used and the selectivity of locations make NASA's data and conclusions suspect. D'Aleo goes further, saying such cherry-picking and data manipulation are a "scientific travesty" committed by activist scientists to advance the global warming agenda.
To us, it looks like just another example of ideologically driven climate deceit following the Climate Research Unit scandal and the fraudulent claim by the U.N.'s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change that Himalayan glaciers would soon vanish.

How's That Again, Mr. President, For Us Schlubs Who Don't Get It?
"That I do think is a mistake of mine," the president told ABC's George Stephanopoulos. "I think the assumption was if I just focus on policy, if I just focus on this provision or that law or if we're making a good rational decision here, then people will get it."
But you schlubs aren't that smart. You didn't get it. And Barack Obama is determined to see that you do. So the president has decided that he needs to start "speaking directly to the American people".
Wait, wait! Come back! Don't all stampede for the hills! He gave only 158 interviews and 411 speeches in his first year (according to CBS News' Mark Knoller). That's more than any previous president — and maybe more than all of them put together.

Mr. Obama, where’s your rich Muslim heritage in the US?
Barack OBAMA, in his Cairo speech, said: “I know, too, that Islam has always been a part of America ’s story.”
An American Citizen’s Response:
Dear Mr. Obama:
Were those Muslims that were in America when the Pilgrims first landed? Funny, I thought they were Native American Indians.
Were those Muslims that celebrated the first Thanksgiving day? Sorry again, those were Pilgrims and Native American Indians.
Can you show me one Muslim signature on the United States Constitution?
Declaration of Independence ?
Bill of Rights?
Didn’t think so.
Did Muslims fight for this country’s freedom from England? No.
Did Muslims fight during the Civil War to free the slaves in America? No, they did not. In fact, Muslims to this day are still the largest traffickers in human slavery. Your own half brother, a devout Muslim, still advocates slavery himself, even though Muslims of Arabic descent refer to black Muslims as “pug nosed slaves.” Says a lot of what the Muslim world really thinks of your family’s “rich Islamic heritage,” doesn’t it Mr. Obama?
Where were Muslims during the Civil Rights era of this country? Not present.
There are no pictures or media accounts of Muslims walking side by side with Martin Luther King, Jr. or helping to advance the cause of Civil Rights.
Where were Muslims during this country’s Woman’s Suffrage era? Again, not present. In fact, devout Muslims demand that women are subservient to men in the Islamic culture. So much so, that often they are beaten for not wearing the ‘hajib’ or for talking to a man who is not a direct family member or their husband. Yep, the Muslims are all for women’s rights, aren’t they?
Where were Muslims during World War II? They were aligned with Adolf Hitler. The Muslim grand mufti himself met with Adolf Hitler, reviewed the troops and accepted support from the Nazi’s in killing Jews.
Finally, Mr. Obama, where were Muslims on Sept. 11th, 2001? If they weren’t flying planes into the World Trade Center , the Pentagon or a field in Pennsylvania killing nearly 3,000 people on our own soil, they were rejoicing in the Middle East . No one can dispute the pictures shown from all parts of the Muslim world celebrating on CNN, Fox News, MSNBC and other cable news networks that day. Strangely, the very “moderate” Muslims whose asses you bent over backwards to kiss in Cairo , Egypt on June 4th were stone cold silent post 9-11. To many Americans, their silence has meant approval for the acts of that day.
And THAT, Mr. Obama, is the “rich heritage” Muslims have here in America.
Oh, I’m sorry, I forgot to mention the Barbary Pirates. They were Muslim.
And now we can add November 5, 2009 - the slaughter of American soldiers at Fort Hood by a Muslim major who is a doctor and a psychiatrist who was supposed to be counseling soldiers returning from battle in Iraq and Afghanistan .
Add the recent “underwear” bomber to the list, also.
That, Mr. Obama is the “Muslim heritage” in America.

The Rules Simply Don’t Apply to Liberals
In the wake of the Massachusetts election on Tuesday night, liberals in Congress have once again embarked on a course to change the rules to fit their needs. Senator Tom Harkin (D-IA) intends to introduce a bill that would eliminate the 60 vote threshold to end debate in the U.S. Senate. Ironically, the timing of their newest rule-changing efforts is a direct result of a previous rule-change merry-go-round that they themselves are to blame for.

AMERICANS CALL FOR CHANGE AS U.S. BECOMES LESS ECONOMICALLY FREE
Specifically, the Index records a wide disparity among the 20 largest economies in the world over the past year, with half continuing to increase economic freedom while the other half, including the United States and the United Kingdom, embraced policies that substantially diminished it, says Heritage:
* In particular, countries that undertook large stimulus measures or other government-directed attempts to spur growth failed to realize economic growth.
* Not only have growth rates not increased, but the long term impact of these measures, which includes increased deficits, inflation, higher taxes and protectionist measures against foreign trade, actually diminish economic activity.
* In the case of a country like the United States, which has such a large impact on the world economy, slower growth harms not only Americans, but citizens of almost every other country in the world. AMERICANS CALL FOR CHANGE AS U.S. BECOMES LESS ECONOMICALLY FREE

Obama’s Unicorn of Hope and Change Died Under the Weight of Ted Kennedy’s Ego
Once Kennedy’s condition became terminal, he could have resigned his seat in favor of an appointment or special election. Instead, the Democrats and Kennedy decided he should martyr himself to advance socialized medicine in America. Had he resigned before the health care debate began, the Republican victory in Massachusetts would be a myth. Instead, it is now a reality. Yes, you can credit Ted Kennedy with killing health care, not just Mary Jo Kopechne.

And our reputation in the international community? Reputation with whom? Sharia states where they stone adulterers, brutalize homosexuals, and kill their own daughters in the name of honor? Rogue regimes where exhibitions of American weakness are taken as license to mutilate? Euro-nannies who rely on us for protection because they’re without the will and the resources to do the job themselves? They ought to worry about their own reputations. In the United States, only the blame-America-first crowd gives an Obama-dollar what they think. That crowd does not include about 80 percent of Americans who look around at their country, look at the teeming masses trying to get into it, and figure this is a pretty good place after all.
Scott Brown didn’t modulate his positions to send a thrill up the media’s leg. He said the United States needs to stop apologizing for defending itself. And he won going away, in the bluest of blue states. It’s the Enemy, Stupid

Illegal Immigration - The Cure They Say Can't Be Done
These programs did exist and were effective. Snopes.com says the 13 million number is "Undetermined".
What did Hoover, Truman, and Eisenhower have in common?
Here is something that should be of great interest for you to pass around.
I didn't know of this until it was pointed out to me.
Back during The Great Depression, President Herbert Hoover ordered the
deportation of ALL illegal aliens in order to make jobs available to American
citizens that desperately needed work..
Harry Truman deported over two million Illegal's after WWII to create jobs
for returning veterans.
And then again in 1954, President Dwight Eisenhower deported 13 million
Mexican Nationals! The program was called 'Operation Wetback'. It was
done so WWII and Korean Veterans would have a better chance at jobs.
It took 2 Years, but they deported them!
Now....if they could deport the illegal's back then - they could sure do it today..
lf you have doubts about the veracity of this information, enter Operation
Wetback into your favorite search engine and confirm it for yourself.
Reminder: Don't forget to pay your taxes...
12+ million Illegal Aliens are depending on you!

Massachusetts Earthquake - No Free Ride for Republicans Either
Republicans have an uncanny ability to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. We have seen it time and again and that is a real danger here. So let me tell you what this victory is not. It is not about getting Republicans a seat at the Democrat table. Let me repeat that.
This election is not about getting Republicans a seat at the Democrat table.
If nothing else has become clear over the past year, Republicans have to have at least realized this: Democrats don't share. Any effort to use this victory to give Republicans a better "negotiating position" on Democrat-sponsored bills will simply make it easier for Democrats to pursue their reckless agenda, only now they will have "bipartisan" support. Come November, voter contempt for Republicans will be as palpable as it is now for Democrats. Republicans will lose.
Going along to get along is out. Compromise is out. And if Republicans don't get it they will be repeating the mistakes that put them back into the minority in the first place.
The reason We the People are in open revolt is because we finally clearly recognize that the entire Democrat agenda is willfully destructive. Republicans need to get this through their heads. We are not merely dealing with a Party of "opposing views." We are dealing with an international movement that will destroy our Republic by snatching our freedoms, our wealth and our independence, with the ultimate goal of, as Barack Obama said, "fundamentally transforming" our Constitutional Republic into a socialist dictatorship.
Republicans have no excuse to be supporting or even compromising with that agenda. Their job should be preventing Democrats from imposing this nation-wrecking agenda, while convincingly articulating their reasons for doing so and offering superior alternatives.

T. Boone Pickens Ad Re: Natural Gas - FOX News
It boggles my mind that the democrats continue to block usage of our natural resources. Sure Pickens will benefit from this legislation, but there will also be thousands of jobs created in the USA which will strengthen our whole economy. Getting rid of the oil imports will eliminate our dependency on OPEC and reverse our balance of payments deficit.
We shouldn’t stop at natural gas, we should also drill for oil, drain that oil shale and find a way to utilize coal in an environmentally sound way. Maybe then our oil needs from overseas will cease and the jobs that are created will bring our country back.
See it here.

Americans Grow Weary of Government Intervention in Marketplace
Republican Senate candidate Scott Brown's surge in Massachusetts comes as a new Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll found increasing voter unease over the federal government's expanding role in the private sector.
For the first time, a majority of Americans—53%—disapprove of the government's increased role in the economy since the financial crisis, up from 44% in March. And 48% said Washington was doing too many things better left to businesses and individuals, a plurality seen in polling since September.
The government's takeover of General Motors, the biggest economic intervention that happened solely on Mr. Obama's watch, drew the strongest negative reaction. Nearly two-thirds of Americans surveyed, 65%, disapproved of the government's taking a majority stake in the troubled auto maker. Independents were highly critical of the move, as were Republicans.

Poll: Most Americans Say They Want a Smaller Government
“The poll also shows how much ground Obama has lost during his first year of trying to convince the public that more government is the answer to the country's problems. By 58 percent to 38 percent, Americans said they prefer smaller government and fewer services to larger government with more services. Since he won the Democratic nomination in June 2008, the margin between those favoring smaller over larger government has moved in Post-ABC polls from five points to 20 points.” Poll: Most Americans Say They Want a Smaller Government

The Great Hate of the Left
Why are those on the left permitted to do and say appalling things that would destroy anyone on the right? Such hypocrisy is infuriating because it masks the truth that the hate is really a projection of the misery and hate within their own hearts.
However, every once in a while, we are provided a perfect teachable opportunity to expose the truth, as was the case during the recent health scare of Rush Limbaugh, in which the left exposed themselves in full regalia. Shameful and beneath any American was the hate displayed not fifteen minutes after it was reported that Rush was taken to the hospital in serious condition. There was a flood of responses in online commentary -- so many praying for his recovery, and disgustingly, some for his demise.
It is one thing to hate someone. However, for Americans, it crosses the line when that hate makes one wish for the harm or demise of another. To pray for anyone to die, let alone with such brazen arrogance and glee, is appalling and breathtaking. The Great Hate of the Left

How nation's true jobless rate is closer to 22%
You keep reading that the unemployment rate stayed at 10 percent. But the press has been playing up the 17.3 percent rate that includes those "underemployed," meaning they can't find a full-time job but want one.
I've been mentioning that under-employed figure -- called U-6 by the Labor Department -- for years and I'm glad everyone else has finally caught up.
But that larger figure doesn't include a huge number of unemployed folks who have given up looking for work because they feel the search is hopeless. Last Friday's report said 661,000 such people left the labor force in December.
If you count these hopelessly unemployed, the real jobless rate is probably close to 22 percent. If these all weren't such important issues, this would all be a big joke.

INTRODUCTION
EXCERPTS
The housing bubble that burst in 2007 and led to a financial crisis can be traced back to federal government intervention in the U.S. housing market intended to help provide homeownership opportunities for more Americans. This intervention began with two government-backed corporations, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, which privatized their profits but socialized their risks, creating powerful incentives for them to act recklessly and exposing taxpayers to tremendous losses. Government intervention also created “affordable” but dangerous lending policies which encouraged lower down payments, looser underwriting standards and higher leverage. Finally, government intervention created a nexus of vested interests – politicians, lenders and lobbyists – who profited from the “affordable” housing market and acted to kill reforms. In the short run, this government intervention was successful in its stated goal – raising the national homeownership rate. However, the ultimate effect was to create a mortgage tsunami that wrought devastation on the American people and economy. While government intervention was not the sole cause of the financial crisis, its role was significant and has received too little attention.
In recent months it has been impossible to watch a television news program without seeing a Member of Congress or an Administration official put forward a new recovery proposal or engage in the public flogging of a financial company official whose poor decisions, and perhaps greed, resulted in huge losses and great suffering. Ironically, some of these same Washington officials were, all too recently, advocates of the very mortgage lending policies that led to economic turmoil. In a number of cases, political officials even engaged in unethical conduct, helping their political allies, family members and even themselves obtain lucrative positions in the mortgage lending industry and other benefits. At a time when government intervention in private markets has become alarmingly common, government “affordable housing” initiatives offer important lessons about the dangers of government efforts to manipulate or conjure outcomes in the market
However, unlike any other publicly traded corporation, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac also answered in a very direct way to the federal government and elected officials in a manner reminiscent of the “crony capitalism” of countries such as Russia or China, which preserve a large state-owned enterprise sector. Fannie and Freddie answered to the Department of Housing and Urban Development (“HUD”), which set quotas for GSE investment in affordable housing, as well as to Congress and the White House, which sought to use them as vehicles to advance the politically popular goal of increasing the national home ownership rate. This was done directly through legislation and regulation which mandated affordable housing lending and indirectly through political pressure from politicians and advocacy groups. This created incentives for Fannie and Freddie to curry political favor with Congress and necessitated a massive lobbying effort which GSE executives termed “political risk management.”
However, in 1995, the Clinton Administration implemented a major regulatory reform of CRA which emphasized “performance-based evaluation.” The impact of this reform was that regulators would no longer rate banks based on their efforts to lend to customers using equitable procedures but rather on the volume of their lending. When combined with the endorsement of “flexible and innovative” mortgage underwriting, this change in the CRA represented a troubling move away from prudent and sustainable mortgage lending towards government endorsement of lower quality lending to those of modest means.
Government actions distorted the housing market, yet advocates of affordable housing policies, such as Congressman Barney Frank (D-MA), have asserted that those who criticize these policies seek to place blame for the financial crisis solely on borrowers of modest means. This misses the mark entirely. In fact, responsibility for the erosion of mortgage lending standards, which began with government affordable housing policy, rests squarely on the policy makers who advocated these ill-conceived policies in the first place. Borrowers quite naturally responded to the incentives they were given, irrespective of their socioeconomic status, and risky lending spread to the wider mortgage market.

Census Multilingual Ad Campaign Assures Illegal Aliens
The U.S. government has launched and unprecedented $133 million advertising campaign—in dozens of languages—to promote the census with the Spanish ads assuring the decennial count is confidential and cannot divulge respondents’ immigration status.
Billed as the most diverse outreach campaign in U.S. history, the never-before-seen promotional blitz will include television commercials, print and outdoor ads as well as online advertising. Hundreds of ads have been drafted in 28 languages, including two Chinese dialects, Russian, Arabic and Tagolog. The Spanish advertisements, which will be distributed on national television and print media, are of particular interest because they guarantee the safety of illegal aliens who fill out the census forms.
One of them calls on Hispanics to "make yourself count" because “your community needs you.” It encourages those who fill out the forms to assure their community that the census is secure because the confidentiality of every person is protected by law. The U.S. Census Spanish-language web site also guarantees that no questions regarding immigration status appear on the forms and that respondents’ identities are kept private and protected by federal law.

A Dollar Crisis?
I've mentioned before that with the current economic policies of the Democrats, there is a risk of hyperinflation. This article in The Investors Business Daily alleviates some of my fears, but only if we stop this insane spending spree.
Over the long run, nothing, not even the dollar, is immune to economic forces. To get the economy moving and reduce our debt load, we need major spending cuts and, at minimum, a government pledge not to raise taxes.
A dollar crisis? We doubt it. But why take the risk?

Obama Rewards Losers, Punishes Winners
President Obama's crony politics rewards losers and penalizes winners. He is engaging in sheer, raw, left-wing class-warfare politics. It's yet one more reason why the Democrats are going to get clobbered at the polls come November.
Voters know a smoked turkey when they see one. Remember, you can fool some of the people some of the time, but you can't fool all the people all the time. Obama Rewards Losers, Punishes Winners

Nancy Pelosi - Auto Maven
My only question is, did she give all the visiting dignitaries a downtown tour of Detroit to boast about the accomplishments of the liberal agenda.
An excerpt from the Investors.com editorial: But when the speaker of the House gets "behind the wheel of Detroit's auto show," as the Detroit Free Press reported, and is "thronged by reporters and cameras," it's further confirmation that our republic is losing its way. Nancy Pelosi: Madam Speaker/Auto Honcho

Illegal Immigration Is Not A Side Issue
As the battles over health care, cap 'n tax, additional stimulus money and the host of leftist schemes rage, we mustn't lose sight of the fact that a much longer-standing battle is being waged, and the Democrats would like you to put it on the back burner. As the electorate flees the Obama agenda, the Democrats need instant voters, and they intend to get them. That plan requires quick and immense naturalization of immigrants who are in the United States illegally.
It is far too easy to fall into complacency about alien amnesty, since previous bills have gone the way of the Kyoto accords. Nevertheless, the nation is distracted with so many massive government schemes coming down the pike that an amnesty could slip through, nearly unnoticed. In addition, there are many indications that the pro-immigration crowd is much better organized for this round, and have learned how to plan their amnesty so that it slips in under the radar. On top of that, there are so many hot button issues in front of Congress that this vital issue might not produce the immediate negative reaction that the Democrats fear on most of the others.
The pro-amnesty crowd has a much more favorable environment than in the past. With the economic doldrums hurting every business, including farms, illegal immigration has fallen to near-record lows. Those who still come in find it harder to hide among the illegals hanging out in the parking lots of the local 7-11s looking for illegal wages that have dried up. Many of the illegals who have avoided committing crimes (or at least avoided getting caught) have become familiar to their legal neighbors. The criminal creation of fake visas has now nearly caught up with the influx of illegal border-crossers, lending an air of false legality to their presence in the United States. The Latino populations of some major cities have grown by such numbers that a Latin American immigrant who doesn't speak a word of English doesn't seem nearly as out of place as would have been the case fifteen or twenty years ago.
The cancer of illegal immigration is temporarily in remission, but the disease of large numbers of illegal immigrants already here is waiting to spring into full metastisization. Numbers generally hovering around twelve million describe the current state of affairs. Even the radical friend of all things French, Thomas Jefferson, once announced that the the thought of the sudden appearance of 5 million Frenchmen on America's shores demanding entry and citizen rights terrified him. He was no more a Francophobe than the vast majority of us are Latinophobes. But even the radical Jefferson could see that a constitutional republic could not long survive huge numbers of unrestrained immigrants from nations with no tradition of democracy or the rule of law becoming instant citizens.
Today, amnesty would not likely produce an instant wave of further illegal immigration, and that fact works in favor of the pro-amnesty crowd. Previous amnesties produced no sudden new influx. But we can learn from that mistake. Once the economy turned around, and we had large numbers of formerly illegal immigrants beckoning to their friends and families to come and join them, the race across the border began again in earnest. We cannot and must not repeat that mistake.
One major issue that worked against amnesty the last time has been resolved by the passage of time, organization, and the pro-union leftists in Congress and the Obama administration. Previously, there was a debilitating split in the union ranks over illegal immigration and amnesty. Many union workers and some of their union bosses saw the intrusion of illegals into the work force as harmful to the wages and perquisites of native-born union members. Today, that split has been resolved in large part, either voluntarily or by imposition from the top. The SEIU, a union much beloved of the Obama administration, owes a large portion of its success to recruiting illegal immigrants into the union. Previously, the unions favored immigrants as guest workers but still insisted that even those here legally follow the regular path to citizenship. Today, the union leaders and their thugs (as if there is any difference) see a massive potential for grabbing union dues while dictating policy to Congress and the White House. It's a deadly and dangerous brew. The undemocratic "card check" vision of the Obama administration only causes that brew to ferment more quickly.
Money from Washington DC, the assistance of coerced small business owners, union thuggery, and the activities of crypto-criminal enterprises such as ACORN have brought previously unimagined funds into the pro-amnesty, pro-illegal immigration coffers. Academia has spent considerable time and effort on convincing young voters that being against unrestricted illegal immigration is identical to being against all immigration for our "brown brethren." If you're against illegal immigration, you're a racist (even though "race" has next to nothing to do with it). Well-funded "community organizations" are then free to recruit idealistic but misinformed cadres to spread the doctrine that "illegal immigrants are just like you," hiding the obvious fact that unless you're here illegally, they are not just like you. Their very first act in the United States was to break the law. Anyone who knows psychology, history and criminology knows that the first law broken is the hardest. Each successive criminal act becomes easier, and more justifiable in the mind of the criminal.
Most illegal immigrants are law-abiding and wish to stay that way. But the lure of one primary illegal act which produces great benefits is similar to the growth of the welfare state. Even those with strong individualistic mindsets are not going to turn down government benevolence when it's handed to them without having followed the rules and walked the path that had been required of previous immigrants. The Democrats in general, and the left wing of that beleaguered party in particular, are expending immense amounts of time and energy on convincing Americans that amnesty is simply a charitable act toward the poor and downtrodden which will merely produce loyal American citizens. They are also making it clear exactly who is in favor of making their illegality into a legal status, as well as who they owe their future votes to. Loyalty is inherent in the plan, but it's not loyalty to America, or to the rule of law. It's loyalty to the party that got them their free and undeserved gift against the party of those racists who were determined to keep them out.
If the plan succeeds because we let our guard down at exactly the wrong time, there will be future Joe Bidens and Harry Reids saying things like "why don't we run so-and-so for office, since he is a light-skinned Mexican and speaks with hardly a trace of his illegal alien roots?" The plantation mentality has worked rather well for the Democrats so far, so why not extend it to a group which can be created almost instantly in large numbers? And once again, the question becomes "who are the real racists in this scenario?" After all, one can't expect poor, uneducated, unskilled, and non-English speaking border-jumpers to succeed or think for themselves without the help of the Democratic Party. That point of view is demeaning to Hispanic immigrants, patronizing to illegals, and damaging to American unity--and it's the agenda of the Democratic Party.
The issue of national security is almost entirely ignored in this ongoing clouding of the real issues involved in the cancer of illegal immigration. Still, it is a very important issue. The likelihood of a large influx of Latino terrorists is slim, though the influx of murderous Latino gangs cannot be ignored (it's terrorism of a different sort). Still, the open borders policy of neglect from the Obama administration combined with its utter ignorance of who the real terrorists are is a one-two punch for American national security. If our porous borders allow large numbers of illegal (but otherwise peaceable) Hispanics to make it into America on a daily basis, how can we protect ourselves from Islamofascists slipping in with them? A "coyote" is in it for the money, and Al Qaeda has plenty of cash. Amnesty assures that "once you're in, you get to stay." Leftist city governments with "sanctuary" policies help to exacerbate the problem. These policies hover somewhere between dangerous naivete and willful sabotage.
As always, the price of freedom is eternal vigilance. We must not lose sight of the danger of illegal immigration and amnesty amidst the plethora of horrendous government programs the Democrats are foisting on America. The permanency of illegals who have received amnesty will remain, even as we dismantle the economic and military stupidity of the left following the next two election cycles. Socialized medicine will be a thing of the past. Stimulus bills will be few and far between. Cap 'n tax will not go far before being reversed. If we do not suffer a major terrorist attack in the interim, the military will be strengthened and the true enemy identified and hunted into extinction. But the society-destroying amnesty cannot be undone. It has to be stopped before it can get into law. It's one thing to cripple a bad tax scheme, but quite another to take away the citizenship of a duly naturalized citizen.
So watch your representatives, stay active, voice your opinion loudly and publicly, and oppose any move on the part of Obama and Congress to "fundamentally transform" America into a banana republic via an amnesty bill.

“Forcing people into Treasuries as an ‘annuity’ is exactly what Social Security allegedly is. Except that Treasury stole the money that was collected in FICA taxes and spent it!”
And he’s right. The fictitious “Social Security trust fund” is just a pile of Treasury notes. If we’re all forced to buy trillions more of them — because the government has over-borrowed so dramatically that nobody else will — all we’re going to get in return are more IOUs with nothing backing them up but the promises of politicians.
Those politicians will be retired themselves — on rich taxpayer-funded pensions that you and I aren’t eligible for — long before the IOUs come due. But they’ll have taken your money to pay for their games, and if you think you’ll be getting it back, I have some oceanfront property in Atlanta that you might be interested in. Time to Uphold the 10th Amendment
The 10th Amendment states “The Powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.” This is a simple straightforward and single sentence Amendment. Every Congressman, including me, takes an oath of office to swear to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States.

This makes me puke! Obama is rewarding the very people that ran all our manufacturing industries into the ground through threats and violence.
And just what deals were Big Labor, the leftist majorities in Congress and the Obama administration making behind closed doors? How to pay for President Obama’s likely $1 trillion health care plan without raising taxes on one of the President’s most loyal constituencies: labor unions. Specifically, Big Labor reportedly has struck a deal with health care negotiators to exempt union members from the 40% excise tax on high-priced health insurance premiums. By some estimates, the tax would hit one in four union members. Now Big Labor will get all of the big government health care spending they always wanted, but they will not have to pay for it.
And Obamacare’s Big Labor handouts don’t end there. The legislation also sets aside $5 billion to subsidize the costs of employer health benefits for early retirees. As Heritage fellow James Sherk notes, few nonunion employers, of course, pay pension and health benefits for workers to retire at 55. And then there’s the small business exemption from the employer mandate for businesses with less than 50 employees. At first this applied to all small businesses, but after aggressive lobbying by Big Labor, non-unionized construction businesses were unexempted. Big Labor lobbyists explicitly admitted they wanted to use Obamacare’s job-killing employer mandates as a competitive advantage to drive non-unionized firms out of business.

By sidestepping her critics, Sarah Palin is now moving to another playing field where she has more control over the rules of the game. Her friends say her critics may call her a "quitter" now, but they should wait and see what new role she decides to fill. She may wind up having the last laugh.

Obama Abandons "Saved or Created" Jobs Claims
Every dollar Congress injects into the economy must first be taxed or borrowed out of the economy. No new spending power is created. It is merely redistributed from one group of people to another. Businesses are telling pollsters that among the biggest reasons they are not creating jobs is the prospect of new tax and regulatory burdens. A better solution to reduce unemployment is to simplify and reduce the barriers to business success. Morning Bell: $787 Billion in Stimulus, Zero Jobs “Created or Saved”

Feds freeze frost antidote
Losses to American farmers from frosts average in the billions of dollars annually. Peaches, plums, citrus and other crops are regularly threatened by frost in the Southeast. California is also susceptible: A January 2007 freeze there cost farmers more than $1 billion in losses of citrus, avocados and strawberries, and a 1990 freeze that caused about $800 million in damage to agriculture resulted in the layoff of 12,000 citrus industry workers, including pickers, packers, harvesters and salespeople. In 2002, lettuce prices around the country went through the roof after an unseasonable frost struck the Arizona and California deserts.
Farmers fight freeze damage with pathetically low-tech methods. These include burning smudge pots, which produce warm smoke; running wind machines to move the frigid air; and spraying water on the plants to form an insulating coat of ice. The only high-tech solution, a clever application of biotechnology, has been frozen out by federal regulators.

The Home Truth About Marriage and Family
Real prosperity - past and future - is built on a free economy combined with personal virtues of hard work and fidelity to those closest to us. It is encouraging that these tough economic times have coincided with a decline in divorce as families relearn the value, both temporal and spiritual, of the bonds of love. It would be a shame if the return of economic growth leaves those lessons in the dust. Families are always worth a second effort.

Secure Communities: A Model for Obama's 2010 Immigration Enforcement Strategy
This program started under the Bush administration should be expanded, not retracted as Obama has done.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) should find ways to improve Secure Communities and use it to better support state and local law enforcement and ICE. Furthermore, as DHS seeks to craft its immigration enforcement strategy in 2010, it should look to strengthen immigration enforcement, mimicking the success of Secure Communities in multiple areas of internal enforcement.

The mini ice age starts here
The bitter winter afflicting much of the Northern Hemisphere is only the start of a global trend towards cooler weather that is likely to last for 20 or 30 years, say some of the world’s most eminent climate scientists.
Their predictions – based on an analysis of natural cycles in water temperatures in the Pacific and Atlantic oceans – challenge some of the global warming orthodoxy’s most deeply cherished beliefs, such as the claim that the North Pole will be free of ice in summer by 2013.
According to the US National Snow and Ice Data Centre in Colorado, Arctic summer sea ice has increased by 409,000 square miles, or 26 per cent, since 2007 – and even the most committed global warming activists do not dispute this.

Teddy's anger
One of the enduring mysteries of the 2008 campaign was what got Ted Kennedy so mad at Bill Clinton. The former president's entreaties, at some point, backfired, and the explanation has never quite emerged.
I've finally gotten my hands on a copy of Game Change, in which John Heliemann and Mark Halperin report:
[A]s Hillary bungled Caroline, Bill’s handling of Ted was even worse. The day after Iowa, he phoned Kennedy and pressed for an endorsement, making the case for his wife. But Bill then went on, belittling Obama in a manner that deeply offended Kennedy. Recounting the conversation later to a friend, Teddy fumed that Clinton had said, A few years ago, this guy would have been getting us coffee.

The Case Against Public Sector Unionism and Collective Bargaining
This is a rather long but fairly complete analysis of the effects of unions on the public sector. The SEIU (a public union) has significant influence in the current Obama administration and, Andy Stern, president of SEIU, (see previous blog), is becoming one of the most powerful men in our country.
By making the union a full and equal partner at the bargaining table, compulsory public-sector bargaining laws deprive the public of its right to participate in policy making. This point was emphasized in a U.S. District Court opinion which upheld the constitutionality of a North Carolina law declaring public-sector union contracts to be void. The Court said:
Moreover, to the extent that public employees gain power through recognition and collective bargaining, other interest groups with a right to a voice in the running of the government may be left out of vital political decisions. Thus the granting of collective bargaining rights to public employees involves important matters fundamental to our democratic form of government. The setting of goals and making policy decisions are rights inuring to each citizen. All citizens have the right to associate in groups to advocate their special interests to the government. It is something entirely different to grant any one interest group special status and access to the decision-making process.

Barack Obama and the Strategy of Manufactured Crisis - The Purposeful Destruction of Our Economy
This article is over a year old, but appears to be the basis of Glenn Beck's show last evening. Please click on and read the entire article. You will see the relevance to today's problems and be disgusted.
The Cloward-Piven Strategy of Orchestrated Crisis
In an earlier post, I noted the liberal record of unmitigated legislative disasters, the latest of which is now being played out in the financial markets before our eyes. Before the 1994 Republican takeover, Democrats had sixty years of virtually unbroken power in Congress - with substantial majorities most of the time. Can a group of smart people, studying issue after issue for years on end, with virtually unlimited resources at their command, not come up with a single policy that works? Why are they chronically incapable?
Why?
One of two things must be true. Either the Democrats are unfathomable idiots, who ignorantly pursue ever more destructive policies despite decades of contrary evidence, or they understand the consequences of their actions and relentlessly carry on anyway because they somehow benefit.
I submit to you they understand the consequences. For many it is simply a practical matter of eliciting votes from a targeted constituency at taxpayer expense; we lose a little, they gain a lot, and the politician keeps his job. But for others, the goal is more malevolent - the failure is deliberate. Don't laugh. This method not only has its proponents, it has a name: the Cloward-Piven Strategy. It describes their agenda, tactics, and long-term strategy.

Freedom - 2010 or Never?
My Thoughts
I read somewhere that 2010 may be the last chance for Conservatives to rescue our country from the Socialists. The policy of the current administration is the old "Chicago machine" policy of buying votes to consolidate power. Through the census's inclusion of illegals, gerrymandering and fast track citizenship, the Democrat base may become too big to overcome.
It may be "now or never" for freedom as it once was.

Capitalism Fingered as Fiend of the Past Decade
Capitalism is at the forefront of our nation's wealth. However, the liberals and progressives try to paint capitalism as the great evil. The free market is now at risk as are all our freedoms. This article summarizes it best.
Free markets are in disrepute these days, particularly by the people running Washington. For them, government is the solution and capitalism is the problem. If they have their way over the next decade, they won't cure what allegedly ails capitalism -- people will still steal and lie -- but they will impede everything that makes capitalism great.

America's Awakening
Joe Hard wrote this for 2010- We’re Tired and We’re Not Going to Take This Any More:
They Have Awoken a Sleeping Giant –
1. We’re tired of politician’s stealing our money in the name of social justice and we’re tired of their programs that promote socialism which we don’t agree with.
2. We’re tired of being criticized and called selfish when we say that we would like to spend our money in the way that we wish and not give to government programs that support ‘victims’ who don’t support their local communities, churches, schools and organizations like we do.
3. We’re tired of being told that God should not be in politics in a world where selfishness and deceit are rampant and abortion is legal.
4. We’re tired of the innocent killing of babies being promoted as a form of birth control and abortion being promoted as a right.
5. We’re tired of being taken for granted and told that the politicians know what is best for us better than we do.
6. We’re tired of being lied to by a media that only tells half a story – A media that produces untrue pictures in favor of those they love and in opposition to those they hate.
7. We’re tired of a media who tells us that to be Christian or God loving is immature or silly.
8. We’re tired of a media that tells us that our military are murderers and that we are causing terrorists to murder.
9. We’re tired of being told that we are the evil ones when we don’t accept the lies of the media or government.
10. We’re tired of being told constantly why we should hate our great country, the most giving country ever in world history.
11. We’re tired of being told that we are the ones who started wars and killed people without reason.
12. We’re tired of being told that we should turn our heads and ignore the evil in the world and not protect ourselves from those whose goal is to kill us.
13. We’re tired of a government that spends more than it makes (takes) without caring who ultimately is going to pay for it.
14. Were tired of politicians who lack the courage to do what is right and who only care about what is in it for them or what greater political position they can steal.
15. We’re tired of federal system that encourages lobbyists to bribe politicians in order to get things done their way in Washington.
16. We’re tired of attorneys who bring frivolous cases to our courts with money as their only motive.
17. We’re tired of politicians passing medical legislation for us that they won’t accept for their own families.
18. We’re tired of being told that women are silly when they love their husbands and provide them safe and happy homes and families.
19. We’re tired of being told that love is a sexual and selfish act and nothing more.
20. We’re tired of being called callous and not compassionate when we don’t agree with the creation socialist society.

Clueless
The president seems unable to go much beyond reading a script. He shows little actual leadership, whether in crafting a health care plan or devising a coherent foreign policy, preferring to delegate to others duties that he should assume. He turned over responsibility for the stimulus plan and totally revamping of U.S. health care to Democrats in Congress, with predictably unsatisfactory results. Meanwhile, his policy of engagement with enemies like Iran and North Korea has simply emboldened them to pursue their nuclear aims at a faster pace.
