What's in a Name - Swine Flu

It seems that the world now has another crisis to contend with in the so-called "Swine Flu". Over reaction to the name could cause havoc in the meat supply if people stop buying pork products. It appears that swine do not carry the virus and that it in inaptly named and health officials have stated that it is perfectly safe to eat pork.

Tell that to the Egyptians who are killing off their entire pig population and maybe creating a food shortage that could kill thousands. Please see site attached.

Liz Chaney vs Norah O'Donnell

Norah O'Donnell is "down for the count" as Liz Chaney states fact after fact to refute Norah O'Donnell's pre-conceived "torture" beliefs. Also, don't miss the small tidbit from Pres. Clinton on the follow-up page.

Liberty and Tyranny by Mark R. Levin

Just finished reading Mark Levin's book "Liberty and Tyranny, a Conservative Manifesto" and want to recommend it to all citizens who worry about this Republic.

The attacks by liberals, who Mark calls "Statists", are unrelenting and insidious in their nature.

It is a must read for all those who care about this country.

The Educated Voter

A poll that came out yesterday, had 88% of Democrats still supporting the job that Pres. Obama is doing. The mainstream media, with the exception of Fox News, has given very favorable treatment to Obama, so this is not to be unexpected. Similarly, the coverage given during the campaign was an obvious factor in his victory as shown in the YouTube video "How Obama Got Elected - Interviews with Obama Voters"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mm1KOBMg1Y8

Also see "The Cost of Media Bias"
http://www.pjtv.com/video/Afterburner_/The_Cost_of_Media_Bias_-_Did_the_Media_Steal_the_Election_%3F/1736/

The survival of the Republic depends on a well educated electorate, not one that gets its information from a completely biased media and entertainment shows like SNL, Jon Stewart and Bill Marr or even Rush Limbaugh.

The Democrats have stopped funding a District of Columbia school voucher program favored by Republicans, that was proving to be successful in advancing the education of its students, in favor of the status quo and support of the teachers' unions. http://foxforum.blogs.foxnews.com/2009/04/20/williams_obama_dc/

The Democrat party obviously believes that it is not in their best interest to have an electorate that has a well rounded education.

Global Warming - Dangerous Hype

The administration is not giving up on the "Cap & Trade" carbon emissions taxes to help control "Global Warming". An estimated $650 billion to $2 trillion is expected to be raised and will be spent by the Democratic Congress and the Administration in any way they want. Where will the taxes come from? Of course all these taxes will be passed along thru increased utility bills, increases in gasoline prices, and in almost anything you buy that does not come from China.

Of course, China will not participate in this foolishness, and will reap the benefits by offering lower prices on the world markets. Higher prices on American goods will diminish exports and slow our economy even more. If you want to read about how the USA does not control the world's carbon emissions, read the following article by Peter W. Huber.
http://www.city-journal.org/2009/19_2_carbon.html

According to a recent poll, the majority of Americans do not believe that "Man" is responsible for the Earth's warming. More evidence is becoming available that shows that, if we look at long term climate fluctuations, the recent period of warming is not unexpected, and in fact, the Earth has experienced a period of cooling in the last few years. Many scientists agree that we will be in a period of cooling for the next couple of decades. Two great articles on this can be read at the following sites.

Rahm Emanual, President Obama's Chief of Staff, has stated that "you never let a serious crisis go to waste". In this case the "crisis" can be used to extract a significant portion of the gross national product from the private sector and use it to increase the Government in order to buy more votes and gain more control over our lives.

I guess if there is no "serious crisis" laying around, you can always get Al Gore to make a video to create one.

The Fair Tax Act

The Federal tax code today contains over 60,000 pages of income distribution, loopholes, social engineering, paybacks to lobbyist groups and many other provisions that have nothing to do with the original intentions of our forefathers. It is time to rid ourselves of this burdensome code and adopt a simple and effective alternative. The Fair Tax Act is a change we can believe in.

What is the FairTax plan?

The FairTax plan is a comprehensive proposal that replaces all federal income and payroll based taxes with an integrated approach including a progressive national retail sales tax, a prebate to ensure no American pays federal taxes on spending up to the poverty level, dollar-for-dollar federal revenue neutrality, and, through companion legislation, the repeal of the 16th Amendment.

The FairTax Act (HR 25, S 296) is nonpartisan legislation. It abolishes all federal personal and corporate income taxes, gift, estate, capital gains, alternative minimum, Social Security, Medicare, and self-employment taxes and replaces them with one simple, visible, federal retail sales tax administered primarily by existing state sales tax authorities.
The FairTax taxes us only on what we choose to spend on new goods or services, not on what we earn. The FairTax is a fair, efficient, transparent, and intelligent solution to the frustration and inequity of our current tax system.

The FairTax:
Enables workers to keep their entire paychecks
Enables retirees to keep their entire pensions
Refunds in advance the tax on purchases of basic necessities
Allows American products to compete fairly
Brings transparency and accountability to tax policy
Ensures Social Security and Medicare funding
Closes all loopholes and brings fairness to taxation
Abolishes the IRS

Texas Bill Declares State's U.S. Constitutional Rights

AUSTIN – Gov. Rick Perry today joined state Rep. Brandon Creighton and sponsors of House Concurrent Resolution (HCR) 50 in support of states’ rights under the 10th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. “I believe that our federal government has become oppressive in its size, its intrusion into the lives of our citizens, and its interference with the affairs of our state,” Gov. Perry said. “That is why I am here today to express my unwavering support for efforts all across our country to reaffirm the states’ rights affirmed by the Tenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. I believe that returning to the letter and spirit of the U.S. Constitution and its essential 10th Amendment will free our state from undue regulations, and ultimately strengthen our Union.”

A number of recent federal proposals are not within the scope of the federal government’s constitutionally designated powers and impede the states’ right to govern themselves. HCR 50 affirms that Texas claims sovereignty under the 10th Amendment over all powers not otherwise granted to the federal government. It also designates that all compulsory federal legislation that requires states to comply under threat of civil or criminal penalties, or that requires states to pass legislation or lose federal funding, be prohibited or repealed.

HCR 50 is authored by Representatives Brandon Creighton, Leo Berman, Bryan Hughes, Dan Gattis and Ryan Guillen.

Democrats Bow to Unions - Kill Off Vouchers

The Democrat run Congress has voted, and President Obama has signed a bill to kill the D.C. school voucher program, which by all accounts, was outpacing public school education at one quarter the cost. Education Secretary Arne Duncan sat on the results of his study until the vote was completed.

This is proof that what is good for the unions is good for the Democrat party, but, obviously, not good for the children or the taxpayers.

Lenin

In my Think-a-Thon section, I have included four quotes from Vladimir Lenin that seem to support Hannity's assertion last evening that we are heading toward Fascism.

The expansion of Americorps with training and indoctrination of our youth, looming increased taxation and inflation, the press acting as cheerleaders for the left, and the decay of capitalism due to Government intervention; these all fit with Lenin's philosophy.

It is time for every citizen to wake up and take our Republic back from the Left.
